Was J-8 the first fighter jet China designed ? Google AI answer:

Yes, the Shenyang J-8 is widely recognized as the first fighter jet designed and built entirely in China. Developed by the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation, it marked the nation's transition from license-producing and reverse-engineering Soviet jets to developing its own supersonic aircraft. [1, 2, 3]

The J-8 was the first indigenously designed fighter type in China, contrasting with earlier Chinese aircraft (J-5, J-6, and J-7) which were locally assembled versions of Soviet aircraft (the MiG-17, MiG-19, and MiG-21). [1]
AI is not a god, J-8 is modified version of J-7 with 2 engines and quite similar to Soviet Su-15 flagon in appearance , May China espionage the Sokhoi design bearue to get blue print of Su-15

While the first-generation J-8 looked like a giant J-7, the design radically evolved with the J-8II (Finback-B) variant in the 1980s. To fit a massive, modern fire-control radar, engineers completely redesigned the front half of the plane.

Lol, Soviet broke with China since early 1960s.

And do you have comprehension issue? I said espionage/spying by you from Soviet design companies lol

Do you have concrete evidence, or just out of your mouth ? You know how difficult to access Russia fighter design when the two countries had like no relation or contact.

Losers always claim others to steal to conceal their own incompetence, lol
Typical Indian mindset.

Look bro you don't the evidence either that J-8 is a totally indigenous design, logic and common sense make lot of sense, In early to mid 80s with the introduction of MIG-31/Su-27/MIG-29 Su-15 wasn't their primary interceptor aircraft and in late 80s before the breakup of Soviet Union they desperately need money so its quite possible they secretly sell you Su-15 design and after the breakup lot of Russian aerospace scientists and engineers flew to China and established modern Aviation industries of China because Russia had have no $$$ to give them salaries and other facilities to those scientists and engineers (in 90s)

And last Su-15 was based upon Su-9/Su-11 which were comparable to MIG-21/J-7, so you can easily adopted these themes to upgrade your J-7 to J-8, Actually early prototypes of Su-15 were extremely similar to J-8 or J-8A only latter versions of both jets using side intakes and solid radomes for bigger and more sophisticated radar instead of air intake (shock cone) radars for better performance

The J-8II (NATO reporting name: Finback-B) made its maiden flight on June 12, 1984. And The Soviet Union didn't break up until 1991.

But they were in critical situation (short of funds) for their every department starting in early 80s so they can provide you a assistance to improve the performance of J-8 or you closely look at the development of Su-15 for improve your J-8
