The Royal Saudi Air Force, as we mentioned previously, needs a lot of fighters to compensate for the old ones that will go out of service such as the Tornado and the F15C and D,,The total is no less than 140 fighters to be replaced..

Thus Saudi Arabia needs the Rafale and Typhoon deals together.. 48 Typhoons and 100 Rafales..

It is not true what some might think that the Rafale will constitute a burden in terms of infrastructure and assimilation because it is a new fighter..

The best example is Qatar, which is a small country and its military capacity is very limited,
Still it has absorbed at the same time and in a very short time, three types of fighters; F15, Typhoon, and Rafale, so one can assume that Saudi Arabia with its big capabilities is very capable of absorbing the Rafale and its ToT..

Versatility and smoothness of movement is undoubtedly one of the most important characteristics of the Typhoon fighter

Navantia Commissions Corvette HMS UNAYZAH (C550) to Royal Saudi Navy

1710157198758.jpeg
On behalf of His Royal Highness Minister of Defence Princ Khaled Bin Salman, The Chief of Staff, General Fayyad bin Hamed al Ruwaili, and the Chief of Staff of Royal Saudi Naval Forces, Admiral Fahad Bin Abdullah Al-Ghofaily, have presided today the commissioning of the fifth corvette, built at Navantia’s Bay of Cádiz shipyard, to the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF). In accordance with the terms of the contract, the handover took place at the King Faisal naval base in Jeddah. In this special occasion, His Excellency Chief of Staff of Royal Saudi Naval Forces, Vice Admiral Fahad Bin Abdullah Al-Ghofaily delivered his speech indicating that HMS UNAYZAH is the fifth and last corvette of Al-Sarawat project to be delivered. HMS UNAYZAH, as the rest of her class, was built to be one of the world’s most technologically advanced and powerful corvette to meet National mandates in realization of Saudi vision 2030, possessing distinctive capabilities to handle multi-combat missions with high efficiency to enhance the combat readiness of the RSNF, to defend the strategic and vital interests of the Kingdom, and to maintain maritime security in the region.

1710157838679.jpeg

The corvette HMS UNAYZAH has a length of 104 meters, a beam of 14 and seating for a total of 102 people between crew and passengers. The contract for the construction of five corvettes entered into force in November 2018 and, since the launch of the first unit (July 2020), Navantia has already launched the five units with a period of four months between each one of them, which means achieving this milestone in a record time of three years. Deliveries are taking place after just over three years from the cutting of the first plate of each ship. The corvettes are based on the AVANTE 2200 design, adapted to the requirements of the RSNF, offering advanced performance, excellent work at sea, high survivability, and ability to operate in extreme temperatures. Concurrently, around 700 crew members, engineers, and maintainers of these corvettes are completing the education and training process at the Navantia Training Center (NTC) in San Fernando.

In addition to the corvette contract, Navantia agreed with SAMI (Saudi Arabian Military Industries) to create a joint venture in Saudi Arabia, an alliance that allows Navantia to position its integrated systems and technologically advanced solutions in the Arab market and area of influence and is aligned with the company’s internationalization strategy. The contract assumes a global workload of around seven million hours and 6,000 jobs over five years. Of these, more than 1,100 are direct employees, more than 1,800 collaborating industry employees (more than a hundred companies participate at the programme) and more than 3,000 indirect employees generated by other suppliers. The program includes, in addition to construction, the Life Cycle Support for five years from the delivery of the first ship, with an option for another five additional years, the last ship of which must be delivered in 2024. It also includes the provision of various services, such as integrated logistics support, operational and maintenance training, provision of Education and Training Centres for the Combat System and Platform Control System of ships, Life Cycle Support, and ship maintenance systems at the Jeddah Naval Base.

Raybolt has similar specifications to the Javelin with longer range

Some critiques claim it's better all-around.

The Koreans presented K2 Black Panther tank to KSA and made major modifications to the tank to suit the requirements of Middle Eastern countries.. it might come in the $13 billion deals announced..

I'm curious what else is in this $13 billion package? I must've missed it but now I'm really curious.

18 various air-to-surface ammunition (bombs/missiles), and 4 air-to-air missiles
Or
16 air-to-air missiles (AIM-9X, AIM-120C7)

I posed this question/comment several times before, here and on other boards and I never really get the true answer TBH. Why is it that Egypt, having a peace treaty with the zionist entity that it has honorably honored for 30+ years, conducted diplomatic and even major economic deals, still seen as a threat to that entity while examples like this including Saudiya, the UAE, Bahrain etc. never even recognized the zionist entity let alone have complete diplomatic & economic relations with it get awarded the AIM-120 & AIM-9X missiles? Heck even Jordan which is geographically even closer to the capital of the zionist state is awarded the AIM-120.

The proximity is the usual, common answer that I get in that because of the distance, the chances are unlikely that they would be used against the murdering aircraft of the zionist which I find absurd to no end.

It has also become a issue with non-US-built weapons systems such as the Meteor and a few other items. We're hoping to see an end to this terrible and disrespectful process starting now and with any future acquisitions ISA.

That's about as impressive as it gets as far as AWACS, EAW&C & ELINT/SIGINT platforms are concerned. They're basically the best in the world combined. Incredible. I can't imagine the work it took to integrate the libraries and to sort out acquired signal intelligence information with these mega systems, especially integrating the different models from different sources/origins such as between the SAAB Erieye and the E3 Sentry for example. Remarkable.

Can you imagine the suffering these poor lads must be enduring with all that fire so close to their faces while wearing that heavy uniform AND especially the heat of Saudiya! Yalahweee! :D

This is when they sing that song "MEN MEN, MEN, MEN, MEN, MEN, MEN, MEN, MEN!"

Egypt: 55
Diameter: 36
India: 36

Wait bro, where is "Diameter"? :ROFLMAO:
Keep up the great work, ma bro. (y)

I fixed it.. bad translation..of Qatar! HaHaHa!

The $13 billion deal between KSA and South-Korea was announced as a secret deal at first..than some parts were leaked.. like the K-2., the Chunmoo II MLRS (done deal), Ships tailor made corvettes for KSA with ToT..and even the latest submarines with Ballistic missile lunch capabilities,,some systems might still be considered confidential.. We just know that lately KSA and SK will develop a 6th generation fighter based on KF-21..

No Aim-120 for Egypt out of fear.. you know what Egypt did to the IAF in 1973 with 2 generation lower fighter planes.. put yourself in the US and its protege i.e Israel shoes imagining what you can do with equal same generation weapon systems..

Yes the Electronic warfare of RSAF is very impressive indeed.. I remember them contracting the best CI5 in the US.. and were not satisfied..so they had to restart from zero (the Americans) ..till reaching the satisfactory results that KSA was seeking.. but the best fact is that KSA is using its own advanced software to operate all these systems..

Yes training is very harsh.. same as Egypt.. there is no constraints when your land's security is involved.. you need real tough men well trained to face any eventuality..

Whar part of Saudiya is this, SC Bro? I'm guessing somewhere in the super high elevations & mountainous areas of the northeast region, right?

BTW, talking about the gargantuan effort the RSAF must've gone through inducting the awesome E-3 Sentry AWACs and tankers and the training it must constantly adhere to along with all the safety protocols etc.? This just goes to show how dangerous working with those two platforms can be. Getting caught in a sudden gust or not paying attention and moving the yolk the wrong way or whatever. Concentration must be 100% at all times.
