Again @Fatman17 brother it's nothing personal and idk why you came across so trigger happy on my other one in the suggestions thread but it was NEVER my intention to offend.

As someone who moderated a previous version of PDF I know it's thankless unpaid work.

Brother, Fatman is our senior in age, if there is anything that he says or does to upset you in terms of his moderating the forum, I would recommend in the first instance to reach out to him by posting on his wall and asking for a direct chat. If that fails you can always reach out to the admin on their walls or via GHQ.

Personally, threads like this sour the mood of the forum, and I totally understand where you all are coming from in terms of allowing free flow of discussions, moderating can be difficult at times it feels like balancing plates - keeping everyone happy whilst also making sure threads are clean and tidy.

A) this forum needs moderation. If it does not have that it will become like every other random shit hole website with the quality of a used toilet tissue paper!

B) last thing we need is 500 new threads every day discussing the same topic because there is no moderation and because people fail to follow basic etiquette or rules of the road… we had this problem with some posters and thankfully the admins have sorted that out (I won’t name or shame them)…

C) having news aggregated by the same topic thread is a good thing!!! If there is something urgent, I have used Breaking News in the topic and eventually that becomes a main thread of its own etc.

D) the busiest thread tends to be the top thread on “Latest Posts” anyway? Was the case in the Iran, Gaza, sindoor conflict… where is the problem?

E) we need to keep the news in the main thread as it allows people to catch up on discussions and form a historical refence for future discussion. Having this spread all over the place in new threads makes it difficult to track down and reference..

F) I have created many new threads when it was warranted and not a duplicate and I have never had issues with my new threads disappearing etc…

G) I suspect I spend more time on this forum than most posters and it feels just right.

I) Dmaybe the admins can introduce a “flaming icon “ for a hot topic or a new section next to latest called “hot topics” and have 5 if the busiest topics?

G) 2 random people talking random crap is an Example of when fatman is not around to clean up the mess because he also has a life to lead etc!,

I think Fatman is doing a fantastic fantastic job in helping keep this site organised and clean and I am appreciative of the work of him and all the other mods and admins who do the
Is…

I have re-read the original post and I don’t get the problem… really? Maybe item H) will fix things ?

Not upset in the slightest bro. Idk who decides policy, I just opened a topic to express my thoughts and see if anyone else felt that way.

The brother closed it, I got the impression he might have been unhappy, so I responded.

I'm aware the brother is older than me and tbh I hope that I come across respectfully to everyone regardless of age. It's never my intention to cause offence, just open discussion in a community.

Considering the time we have all spent interacting, I do consider us a community.

I think the problems discussed by @313Ghazi are faced by many others on this forum and that many of the policy decisions are highly subjective rather than based on any objective criteria and so important or informative threads disappear or are gobbled up in broader threads where nothing can be found. That decisions are subjective is clear on promotions and those that do not follow a particular agenda or perspective are penalized. That for a long while the old PDF avoided these problems and allowed free discussion even if critical of Pakistan which made it highly successful. I was a Think Tank in the old PDF but can't manage to elevate myself above registered member here because my views do not meld with moderator views on Bangladesh. If one tries to criticize moderators here they are likely to get banned. Tried that and got banned. Many no longer take the risk.

On a serious note, the complaint is genuine.

There should be an auto feature or something, that after a while the main thread closes, and any comments to that main thread get posted to another "General chitchat" thread, which contains all this usual 1-1. There can be a hyperlink which shows the parent main thread as well.

Wordpress developers, you got a plugin idea!

Until then, some other stopgap similar to this can be useful.
