There is a lot of doom scrolling and doom posting not just on PDF but on social media, in your private socials and in digital and print media. All of this can have a negative impact on your mental wellbeing and outlook on life. We know things are bad, but sometimes it helps to pause and reflect on the simple things that bring joy to our lives and a smile on our face.

Speaking to a friend who is a psychologist, she was telling me how she recommends her clients all carry a gratitude journal which they use to document one thing every day they are grateful for, it can be something as innocent and mundane as making a nice cup of coffee or the smell of freshly cut grass. To that end I have decided to create this thread, post 1 thing about Pakistan that made you pause and brought some sense of joy to your day.

I will start;

Sharifa - Custard Apples of Malir:

They are in season right now, and super tasty too, Custard apples remind me of childhood trips to Haleji lake, my grandmother would pack custard apples grown in orchards at Malir before we would all pack our family cars and head out on the long drive out, the smell of this fruit instantly teleports me back to a time when life was less complicated, we would enjoy this unique fruit whilst observing the many migratory birds and crocodiles in their natural habitat.

our small orchard in my village. it was a flat land . when we start growing plants people were talking that we are wasting our time bla bla bla. now we have more than 50 types of fruting plants .
Just take one step forhet about other things you will get your reward

A youthful relative in the village developed a heart problem and needed surgery. His family has a history of heart issues. He could not afford it so extended family members in Pakistan and abroad rallied and made enough contributions that the surgery was made possible and was done. He is now in the recovery stage.

I think it's great that family and friendships in Pakistan are still strong enough that you can find help you in your time of need. Most of the world now operates on selfishness and materialism.

Are these for your personal consumption?

I doom scrolled for about 5 hours on Wednesday evening after watching couple of hilarious videos.

By around 1:00 am, I was like what on Earth am I doing?!

The Pakistani Airforce gave me free bottles during my RIAT visit. What a drink.

I tasted this when I was in peshawar , like in October I guess. Its is a pretty recent brand I believe. I liked the taste. But could only taste it once.

Good thread!
Sharifa / Apple Custard was also called something like 'Sita Phal' from my childhood memories. And my family home in Karachi has a Sharifa tree which produces deliciously sweet fruit. Birds, especially Koel, love to eat them.
