FIFA World Cup 2026

On the other hand, which strong teams (on paper) has Mexico defeated at home? They barely have any serious rivals in CONCACAF, so it is no wonder that they hardly ever lose at home. Their only real rival is the US. Friendlies are mostly meaningless in football and primarily serve as warm-up matches for tactical adjustments, as well as giving new players and young talents a chance to shine.

England are much stronger, both as a team and player for player. Mexico's main advantages are the altitude and home advantage. If this game were played in, say, Kansas City, I would make England a 75–25 favourite.

Supposedly, the game has been delayed by an hour due to the weather
. FFS, this World Cup is really messing up one's sleep pattern.

In my home state of Pennsylvania, the opening day of deer season is the Monday after thanks giving. After years of over half the state calling out sick or kids (I might have been among that number) being absent, the state made it a holiday.
BTW, was the The Deer Hunter not filmed in and set in Pennsylvania?

To some degree, yes. The US scenes were filmed in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Washington, and Ohio. Talk about a very dark movie. Still gives me chills after all these years.

I didn’t see a drive to win in Brazil at all except for the forward Vinny. What were they thinking by not allowing Neymar to play? Well they have more 4 more years to save him for the bigger games.
Neymar can't last a full game any more. He's had all sorts of injuries recently. Anyway, it's over for him now sadly. I presume he will retire from international football now.

🤣

You have no idea how true this video is.

It made me laugh cause I come from mix family mex-Americans and they celebrate 4th July's with red-white-blue sombreros. When USA plays Mexico their kids root for USA and older folks root for both teams which never made sense to me.

The elders were smart. Regardless of the outcome, they never lose.

This issue isn't going away. Absolute fury on the English TV panels. Thierry and Zlatan need their heads examining.

There is some disagreement on whether the original foul is red cardable or not - fair enough (I still think it is and countless red cards have been given for exactly this type of foul, see the article for examples). Notwithstanding that, (let's assume for now that the red card was the right decision), it's the seemingly spurious implementation of Article 27 that is causing concern. Could be a bad look for this tournament. Political interference in sporting decisions is, quite rightly, frowned on the world over.

I don't understand why Trump and Rubio wouldn't just stfu instead of gloating about it on social media. I'd hate to see US sports head the same way as Indian sports. If FIFA is seen as a mouthpiece for USA football interests as the ICC has become for Indian cricket interests, then you guys are going to draw a lot of ire over this.
