Iran, Russia and China have been holding their annual naval exercise "Maritime Security Belt" in the Persian Gulf since 2019. Last one was held in February 2026, just few days before the US sent the Iranian navy to the bottom of the sea.

When it comes to the air forces, Iranian and Chinese air forces have not held any military exercises, ever

The reality is that China does not sell weapons to a country at war. The Chinese themselves said this. Chinese weapons can only enter the country through a third country. Because of the above, only the Russians can come into the picture, China can only be a supplier of parts. This is how I see it.

THE MiG-35 is smaller than the Su-Family. It's cheaper & there isn't much going on in the Production Line.

If Iran were to order those, I don't expect too much delay since there isn't any other nation expecting delivery.

They sure as hell would be the most advanced Jets they'd have - if ordered.

They gotta have something. The Iranian Air Force seems to be going in the direction of the Afghan Air Force. Basically a big nothing.

The only problem with the Mig-35 is the lack of an integrated ecosystem of AEW&C, Air to air refuellers, EW etc. The Russian concept is a stand alone platform(well that is all they have) whereas China provides an integrated platform that is by its nature more effective.

Sanctions are an issue though for China.

Yaar, do you truly think Iran's problem right now is (integrating an Eco-System) Air to Air Refuelers, AEW&C and/or EW...?

There biggest problem is that (currently) the best jet in their inventory are Russian Trainers (YAK-130).

How about they get SOMETHING to (actually) defend their skies.

Quite frankly speaking, I don't see the purpose for 'em to have the Su-30/35 right now.

They're BIG. They probably cost more to maintain. And they're built like Bomb Truck - which isn't something they (Iran) needs.

I don't think they make the Mig-29/35 anymore, they've effectively given up on the platform, Mig as a design bureau/company is effectively dead.

No, they were Marketing it 6-7 Months back here at the DxB Air Show.

Besides, Mikoyan is now a division of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), which basically runs all of the former USSR Companies under one roof.

Ilyushin, Irkut, Mikoyan, Sukhoi, Tupolev & Yakovlev are all part of UAC.

They delivered Su-57s to Algeria fine. They only have issues delivering to Iran. Russia is as zionist as the US yet IRIAF refuses to consider any alternatives.
