FIFA World Cup 2026

This FIFA president will be more corrupt than Blatter.
Didn't Blatter say the reversal wasn't "right" to begin with?

That had to be something to have a former FIFA head known for his corruption to say something wasn't right.......

Similar to Senegal's complacent approach vs Belgium in the round of 32. Identical scoreline in fact.

African teams must find a way to stop getting over excited and just keep playing tactically. You're right Egypt should have brought on defensive subs but at the same time, keep possession and focus on reaching the corner regions with the ball well controlled. I'd be interested to see how the pundits unpick this performance later.
The heat map actually suggested Argentina dominating the match, and if not for the Egypt goalie playing an outstanding match, Argentina would have had 2 or 3 more goals than it had (including 1 penalty) on the scoreboard

Egypt was too focused on counter-attack, which scored them the second goal, then they were hardly seen in the Argentinian half, and even in midfield, after the second half.

once a cheat always a cheat

Argentina cheated

if foul can be back tracked by VAR against Egypt

then that foul against Muhammed Salah should also be called by VAR

Then do away with VAR.

VAR has advantages but is calibrated with tolerances which have been under investigation many times before

and the pattern seems to be on play back and few mm of off side

that does not give a meaningful advantage in open play

1 foot in front yes fair play VAR should check but when you are a few mm or play back 30 seconds then it becomes controversial

secondly the VAR also seems to be very inconstant in its application

Paraguay got none

yet Iran and Egypt both robbed

Funny, the US made it farther in the World Cup this year and beat Iran in the previous World Cup.
USA are now out and even after the red card reversed got a good well deserved shafting. Humiliating thrashing - now accept it. Now lets focus on the 9 remaining (will be 8 in a few hours).
I know you are upset but please seek help if necessary. Reach out to a helpline or PM me
- what not to do is reach for your gum and do the american thing and go on a shooting spree.
Please dont do that

Fair criticism.

No var. No penalty.

In fact, the Egyptian coach and support staff were shown cards for demanding a review.

I was up for awhile last night. While the US media were all puzzled, the world media was direct. And brutal in their analysis and reporting.

And FFS, I looked at the tablet. The weather in the PNW has been the absolute best for this tournament. Seattle yesterday and today Vancouver.

FIFA is corrupt by default. No leader resigns.

Make up your own minds

Egypt vs Argentina, referee and FIFA

🔼First image: a slight touch from the Egypt defender on Lisandro Martínez. That play led to the Africans’ goal.

VAR reviewed it and decided to rule it out for a foul.

🔽Second image: a slight touch from Julián Álvarez on Salah. It was inside the box. VAR decided not to call it.

Same fouls, different standards.
