You cannot host American bases, provide airspace and ports, share radar and intelligence information and participate in multiple American wars in the region and then say "we never wanted this war". The GCC absolutely wanted this war and were in bed with the Israelis in selling it to Trump the moron. It was the logical next step after Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Yemen and Lebanon.
I also respect Trita Parsi but nobody is correct in everything. I suspect Trita's profile has risen enough that he was looking for new sponsors for his thinktank with those statements.
No, the GCC Arabs have been powerless. They may have their won Epstein Files and, above all, fear Mossad Assasinations and freezing of their assets. They have hosted the Americans as part of decades old living under the American security umbrella but that doesn't mean they wanted this war. Also, while the Iran of today maybe a bit retrenching, the Iran right after 1979 was into an aggressive geopolitical regional posture and so not too hard to think why the regional countries went for the American security umbrella. Even Pakistan in the 1980s started to feel some effects of the 1979 Iranian revolution.
Anyway, let's ponder a few things worth noting: Why is Saudi Arabia missing from the recent discourse, along with the Saudi (uninvited) participation in the funeral of the Ayatollah. Why is there more and more talk of the so-called STEP alliance? (Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan)? Things are happening behind the scene. Much happening.
