Take off your hypocritical disguise. Either it is ignorance, or it is hypocrisy. To be honest, I don’t want to complicate the issue, and this post is about China’s investments in Pakistan, so I will focus on expanding my thoughts around the topic. Why does China invest in Pakistan? Pakistan is a member of the Belt and Road Initiative, a strategic all-weather partner of China, and also a member of the BRICS countries. Pakistan and China share multiple layers of partnership. Since you have studied in China, you should understand how we value national partnerships, which influence our policy inclinations.
To answer your other question, why China chose Pakistan over India, India has a larger market and more investment opportunities. Smart people would choose India over Pakistan, as it is clearly more promising than Pakistan.
As I mentioned above, China values partnerships between nations, which is a significant inclination in its policies. Pakistan ranks higher on our list of national partners than India, and that is the reason.
Europe is a positive asset to the United States, while Pakistan is almost a negative asset to China. Don’t make it sound as if China is so much greater than the United States. Look at how the United States treats Europe today.
When you help a poor country, it always feels that your help is not enough, wants to drain you completely, and at the same time curses you for being rich but unkind. But when you do business with a wealthy country, both countries can benefit together based on commercial contracts.
