I doubt he's losing much sleep over it. Some Iranians and their Pakistani supporters, however, seem far more concerned about US gas prices and the next midterm elections than they do about Iran's own economic troubles, where inflation has reportedly reached 88%.

Strange how Iran's own economic problems don't seem to attract the same level of concern.

One could almost conclude that American lives matter more in these discussions than Iranian lives.

In my opinion, nearly five decades of IRGC propaganda and ideological messaging has conditioned much of the public discourse to focus on external enemies while drawing attention away from Iran's own domestic challenges. It seems to have totally numbed Iranian society like a cow before slaughter.

The US is graded on an anti curve and ultra maximalist objectives, while Iran is graded on barely surviving. The Iranian people and economy don’t matter. Nearly its entire military and nuclear industrial bases destroyed, and that doesn’t matter. Its entire conventional navy sunk, and that doesn’t matter either.

If some IRGC goons and Mojtaba are holed up for 6 months in a bunker apparently that’s “winning”. If they can fire a handful of drones and missiles, that’s “winning.”

For much of the last 20 years, many people—including myself—were under the impression that Iran was a formidable military power and that a country like the United States would be reluctant to attack it directly.

However, in recent years Iran has experienced military strikes on its territory by Pakistan, Israel, and the United States. In my view, that has challenged the long-held perception that Iranian territory was effectively immune from direct military action.

If that trend were to continue, some argue it could encourage broader international efforts to increase military and economic pressure on the IRGC, although the future course of events remains uncertain.

From my perspective, if the discussion shifts from preventing a foreign military presence to merely resisting one after it has already been established, then the strategic debate has fundamentally changed. To me, that would suggest that deterrence had already failed, regardless of what follows.

Iranian deterrence failed, we already know that.

But did the US manage to deter strikes on its bases across the region? Did Israel manage to deter strikes on its capital from Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, or Iran? No, so why the double standard for Iran?

The Gulf states and the United States are pressing hard to prevent Israel from entering the war, because this would target the infrastructure in the Gulf and the situation would quickly deteriorate out of control

Washington officially asked Israel not to participate in the current phase of military operations against Iran, according to people familiar with communications between the two sides.

The Gulf states are putting pressure on the United States to ensure that Israel does not return to carrying out strikes inside Iran, according to Arab officials familiar with the discussions.

These countries fear that any Israeli participation will push Iran into a more violent response that may target the energy infrastructure in the Gulf.

Israeli participation will make it politically difficult for some Gulf countries to join any operations against Iran in the future if they become necessary.

The report reveals that regional mediators have joined this effort, considering that Israel’s entry will make it more difficult for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to return to the negotiating table.

An American official was quoted as saying that the United States is still coordinating closely with Israel and its Gulf allies, but he did not deny the content of these communications.

The report reveals that American and Israeli goals began to diverge since last spring, as Trump began pushing for a diplomatic solution due to his fears of the impact of energy market turmoil on the global economy, while Israeli officials complained that he stopped the war early before Israel was able to inflict sufficient damage on the Iranian regime or topple it.

In recent days, Benjamin Netanyahu held meetings with ministers and leaders of the security services to discuss the Iranian file, and the current assessment within Israel is to let American economic and military pressures exhaust Iran, while preparing to intervene if Israel is exposed to a direct attack.

The report conveys an important statement by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who attended the meetings on the Iranian file, in which he said:

“The ultimate goal is to undermine and weaken the existence of the Iranian regime, and the best way to achieve this is to crush it economically... The current situation serves our interest and we do not wish to bring ourselves into the battle now.”

Trump informed his advisors, according to a person who heard his comments, that no one can deal with Netanyahu, and that the latter “wants to bomb everyone,” which is information that was previously unique to the Wall Street Journal, and the report repurposes it to explain the current American position.
