PAF J-35AE - News, Updates and Discussions

The major issue that Pakistan faces today isnt lack of 5th generatiom fighter jets but numbers of aesa capable fighters. India is testing a locally developed AESA for its SU-30MKI fleet. That is 200+ aesa capable fighters. Add Tejas and Rafael to that and by 2032 India will have around 300 AESA capable fighter jets. Pakistan need to answer that. So more JF-17 Block 3 and more J-10CE is the need of the hour. Not some 40 J-35 after which PAF will not be able to buy anything for next 5 years.

So china will be actually doing a favor to Pakistan by postponing any alleged deal of J-35 and delaying deliveries by 2028 end atleast. By then we should try to add 70-80 J-10CE and JF-17B3.

This is true. Add a fighter like PFX to the mix and PAF will do nicely. The J-35 might come in the future. Nothing is confirmed regarding J-35. In fact highly placed ministers and officials have actually downplayed the acquisition of J-35. That should tell you something.

A Stealth platform like the J-35AE is itself a force multiplier that negates the competition of the number of AESA radars itself. It is a qualitative edge. Pakistan will never win on trying to match numbers, it wins by being qualitatively better on every front. If India is moving towards that, then PAF needs J-35AE sooner, and not later to negate that qualitative change.

But the day we buy 40 J-35, India will also acquire a 5th Gen fighter. But after acquiring 5th Generation fighter jet, India will still be able to make new Tejas, buy new Rafael, and keep the SU-30MKI modernization running. Can pakistan keep adding more J-10C and JF-17 after buying J-35 . ?

We know the answer is NO.

I am sure the people in PAF have studied such challenges, they know the chess board better than anyone here.

Yep. For a reason, they've entwined themselves with the Turkish MIC like Siamese Twins! Some projected harvests:
  • KAAN/KE/ANKA-3 with indigenous engine + HAVA-SOJ to have a CCA (collaborative combat a/c) capability of their own
  • Steel Dome AD to have their own type of layered defense against all sorts of aerial threats
  • Etc.

But much much later than J-35, with current US engine we will never get KAAN, may be after 2035 and J-35 is already in LRIP for PLAAF/PLAN, and do we need 2 different 5th gen jets from 2 different sources? if yes it would nightmare for PAF for operating/maintaining logistic for 2 different 5th gen jets

Maybe in 2040. When we are looking for replacement of earlier JF17 and F-16.

But in near future I dont think so. PAF will never operate 2 different 5th Generation fighter jets simultaneously. Because it cant. It will be either this or that situation.
