Looks lie the PN is going the Turkish way. I won't be surprised if Pakistan joins the Turkish MIL-DEN (national submarine) project, which has already developed the most critical mid-section (with indigenous sub-class metals) to install indigenous vertical launchers. And, they're working on mini nuclear reactors......

Whoever wins the SWATS program, will probably be a partner on the original SSK program. So STM vs Fincantieri.

Somehow I feel [heart] it will be Fincantieri but my mind [logical] tells me it will be STM as it make more sense

its probably STM. PN was very happy with their work for a90B and the first STM500 is due to be delivered to the customer within the next year.

It is interesting that Turkieye as learnt more lessons from its submarine building programme that allows it design its own, than Pakistan has? Why is that ?

You have to keep at it. Pakistan learned a lot from the Agosta 90 program, where the last submarine was assembled in Karachi. But then Pakistan did not pursue any further submarines for 20 plus years, and as a consequence all the learning was lost.

When u buy sys off the shelf some one or a quite a few officers connected st the right place, make a lot of money.
While when u build somthing in house, u make little to no money.

There should have been inquiry, findings and accountability (but unfortunately in security military state its not possible to question the forces). We paid twice the amount for agosta 90B subs only for ToT, because we wanted to build more of these at home. We not only got ToT, but we also purchased rights to build and sell. So essentially we paid money because we were targeting to build and sell submarines for other customers too. The idea was poor actually, why would anyone buy subs from us when they can buy from original vendor DCN. That all extra money just added more kickbacks for officials in navy and govt.

Ideally we should have built atleast 2 more locally (with essential kits from france) to replace older agosta 70s. That would have justified all extra spending on ToT and would have kept the sub building knowledge transferred to newer batches and eventually start original submarine program. But nothing of sort happened. We are back to square one with Hangors. Hope this time the learning of manufacturing is absorbed in more meaningful way and we are able to start original submarine program. But now question would be of requirement. Higher ups could question the need for another program when we already will have 11 modern AIP subs.

You know nothing, it was never about selling it to other customers, PN originally wanted over dozen A90s, that's why they wanted TOT also DCNS was moving to the scorpeone design anyway so they added the foreign sale clause as a deal sweetener.

As you can see PN never got anywhere near that numbers of A90s for various reasons, our horrible economic state (as usual) change of priorities to modernizing the surface fleet etc
