India's Counter After China Halted Its Bullet Train

Try to understand the economics. Why would every country manufacture TBMs locally when proven machines are already available internationally at a lower cost? Many countries need only a few TBMs for specific projects, so importing is far more practical than building an entire domestic industry.

China developed a major TBM industry partly because its huge domestic demand justified it. Not every country has that scale.

So importing a TBM doesn't mean a country lacks the capability to develop the technology—it may simply be the more economical choice. TBM technology itself is over a century old, although modern machines have evolved significantly with advanced automation, sensors, materials and control systems.

And overall, I agree. China successfully positioned itself in the 1980s and 1990s by offering cheap labour, large-scale manufacturing capacity and favourable facilities. It then gradually absorbed and developed the technology. Many countries missed the opportunity, but China caught it with both hands and turned that advantage into remarkable industrial and technological progress.
difficult. You need to invest a large amount of capital (with potential for long-term losses)... and develop the related industrial chain. Cultivate relevant talents. And there is no guarantee of market acceptance. Even if you can manufacture, it is very difficult to gain local market recognition.

Are you sure that Indian bureaucrats would do this?

This is already happening. Just like China, India has a huge and growing demand for TBMs. India has already developed and deployed domestically manufactured TBM, while Indian companies are also working toward fully indigenous TBM technology and manufacturing.

as said, TBM technology is very old

A large diameter tunnel boring machine (TBM) has been built in China for a project in India. Manufacturer CRCHI has constructed the TBM at its main facility in Changsha, China. The TBM will be used to help construct a tunnel stretch for the Mumbai Coastal Road Project.

bro. I have reason to doubt the OEM

Although I don't understand the logic, but I'm shocked.

It's ok, it's not difficult to understand.
You come from a culture that values broad equality and hamony in society.

The Indian breed comes from a society of Me Brahmin, rest Dalits/untouchables, Thuu (spit)
(of course not everyone, but the general mindset as a whole)

A Brahmin can be a lifelong unemployed ruffian, but he's still better then a untouchable with a bachelors degree, 2 masters and 2 PhDs.

I'm afraid you are an untouchable, hence easily defeated, in their imagination. I hope it's clear now.
