First reports of a US ship hit by Iranian missiles near the coast of Bahrain fear for the lives of at least 30 American sailors.

Telegram accounts linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claim that significant activity is underway at long-range missile sites across Iran and that "zero hour for an attack on Israel is close ".

Another angle is that Bibi is stuck in a puddle of his own doing and despite the Hamas attack(which some say he let happen to save his political seat) he is back to being ousted. So he is raring to draw Iran into a fight to sway public opinion in the US and Europe but more so with the domestic audience so him and his right wing nutjobs can hold their power.
I'm doubtful it's Bibi trying to stay in power. What he says in public is different than in private. It's Israel as a whole trying to recoup it's losses for its new age era it was trying to usher into the middle east with normalization and execution of the Palestinian cause. Israel hasn't increased strikes in Syria by much compared to prior to Gaza conflict. This time they just happened to target Iranian embassy.

But what's for certain is Bibi is afraid of his own base when it comes to ending the holocaust in Gaza. And that's why they're saying they will remain up into 2025 even, inside of Gaza. There's nothing left for them to do or destroy in Gaza so they'll just do strikes in Syria/Lebanon targeting Hezbollah/Iranian command. And no one is giving them reason to stop.

Is this real?

This attack on Iran may be for the USA - the straw that broke the camels back. Israel is simply out of control.
Attempting to bring Iran into a full fledge war is the aim. Hoping Iran doesn’t take the bait.
Revenge is a dish ……….. you know the rest.
This is exactly what Israel wants to distract from what its facing with Gaza. If Iran retaliates and it goes out of control then Gaza is an afterthought that is lost.

Bibi is desperate - and it is possible that US backchanells are pushing for Iran to not retaliate because even the state department is up in revolt against Israeli actions.

This is one spot where Iran can actually give a defeat to Israel by pushing more on the Gaza message and leveraging whatever goodwill and social media power it has to paint Israel into a corner as a ruthless dehumanized aggressor.

Domestically this right wing government of Israel will collapse if this escalation does not happen

Do you mean freedom of western military action? This existed even when the USSR was still among us.

States that tax and regulate their economies comparatively little – the "liberal/democratic" States – tend to defeat and expand their territories or their scope of hegemonic control at the expense of less liberal ones.

This explains, for example, why Western Europe came to dominate the rest of the world and not the other way around. More specifically, it explains why it was first the Dutch, then the British, and finally, in the 20th century, the United States, that became the dominant imperial power, and why the United States, domestically one of the most liberal states, led the most aggressive foreign policy in history during the Cold War, while the former Soviet Union, for example, with its totally illiberal (repressive) domestic policies, engaged in a comparatively peaceful and cautious foreign policy. The United States knew that it could militarily defeat any other state; therefore, it was extremely aggressive. In contrast, the Soviet Union knew that it was doomed to lose a military confrontation with any state of substantial size unless it managed to win within a few days or weeks.

The Soviet Union was never an impediment for Americans and Israelis to act.

It was due to firearm refinement from constant wars in Europe and some better ship building techniques, and then the industrial revolution. Pretty hard to compete with. Nothing to do with liberalism or human rights. Actually much of the West's advancements in science during the Renaissance relied heavily on the data collected by Islamic astronomers, And Big empires fall so that others can rise in their place. Been happening thru out our human history ussr and United States are no different to it.

No one except their support base externally - they thrive on the goody 2 shoes image and that is all but guaranteed to be lost to history.

Will take real leadership and expertise to show restraint. The natural juices will be flowing and wanting the Jewish blue blood to flow but the real strategic victory will be achieved by showing that patience and allow the Gaza to take front page

Ironically it will be better for Gaza for conflict to be directed away from them as Gaza being on the front page isn't helping or stopping the genocide.

Maybe Iranians can confirm if true. Doesn't mean there will be a direct response but confirming the part of the security meeting taking place :

I reckon we are at a crossroads - the end is nigh for this bastard Netanyahu. The pressure will be immense - I reckon a few more days.
I feel every inch of your pain bro -
Palestinians have suffered more than ANY other conflict in our lifetime

There are many sane voices in Israel despite the impression of them being reduced by this right wing surge - and the best way is to cultivate them - step away from the constant attacks and use the idea of divide and rule from a long term perspective to get a resolution for the Palestinians with a pragmatic approach.

Israel is here to stay due to a long list of Arab idiocy and mistakes - instead of trying these belligerent approaches all the while - its time to use the medium they use - media, perception and the electronic spectrum.
