The US is imposing a complete aerial blockade on Iran as well, imposing sanctions on all countries that allow Iranian flights to land in their country since October 23rd. 
The Islamic Republic has to go. They're incapable of producing nuclear weapons, incapable of targeting Americans, and incapable of keeping the economy afloat. They should hand over the regime to somebody else and ask for some sort of guarantee for their lives and f*ck off.

Ayatollahs don’t run Iran. They haven’t for years. Check Majils it’s mostly technocrats. The businessmen, the IRGC alumni, and oligarchs run Iran. The clergy is just their legitimacy front.
There is no easy transfer of power mechanism. I’m not sure why people in the Middle East continue to believe in such things when Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Sudan, Libya show you how messy transfer of power is in divided societies.
Also if Pahlavi comes you go from Mullahs stealing back to the Pahlavi family stealing. And the first thing they will do is remove gas subsidies and sell that excess oil to the world rather than Iranian people. But hey like Jewlani Iranians will be able to use visa debit cards in restaurants! A great trade off.
In all seriousness the country is fucked on the current trajectory. Pahlavi is over 70 years old, he could die in 10 years or get dementia, not nearly enough time to take power, consolidate and rebuild. Has no male heir. And his lead daughter is married to a Jew. All non starters for any transition by monarchy side.
So who is going to take over Iran? The Qalibaf’s? The Rouhani’s? The Khatami’s? They are all part of the system. There is no Delcy Rodriguez. Maybe if Solemani was alive people would accept him as a leader, but there was no shot Solemani would have ever made peace with America. The man was a revolutionary to his dying day.

And I have more say over this than you. And enjoy the last weeks of your regime, because it is game over. You cannot build nuclear weapons, you don't dare to kill American soldiers, and you cannot even keep oil prices. Oil prices haven't even reached the levels they did during the invasion of Iraq

Its been almost five decades that USA wants to completely bring Iranian airliners down. Trump just shouts USA's behind the scene efforts.
