Indeed, it is. But don't you think you're comparing an era when almost every developed nation was making giant leaps in technology with an era when most nations are merely crawling forward?

And it's not just the USSR or Russia. Take the jet engine as an example: it was developed during WWII, in just two or three years. What truly groundbreaking aviation technologies have we developed since then at a comparable pace?

I know one country that has been trying its shit since 1947, yet still hasn't managed to develop a single reliable, serially producible engine.

Germany invented cars, fighter jet, ballistic missile, industrial fertilizer. The latter saves billions lives. Ok, they killed millions in 2 world wars. I am pretty sure Russia engineers can do the same if not their dumb leaders waste their lives on propaganda.

The US has been the largest developed country since at least ww2 so it's natural that the bulk of new science and tech would be invented there.

What you mean substantial?
Every technology comes from somewhere, from someone who invented it. From Germany; quant mechanics, programmable computer, semiconductor, optics making nanoscale chips, rockets flying to the Moon. Many other inventions you enjoy today came from England, France, America, but little to nothing from Russia.
