And Abe's grandfather a prominent Japanese wartime leader who was imprisoned as a suspected Class A war criminal later even became prime minister.

I think you should be more relax.
Japan, Germany is not a military threat even if they are armed to the teeth. Not for China, Vietnam and other in Far East.
You have overwhelming advantage in economic, military and personnel. history will not repeat. That’s what most the Vietnamese think of. From the global perception it’s the US, China, Israel, Russia, Islamist radicals are the most dangerous.
Then the threat of global warming, mass migration of poor and desperate people into rich countries.
That’s the reality.

They are not so dangerous right now only because they have been shackled and put in prison. Whey they fully rearm, they are going to be the most dangerous nations again as in WW II and before. Lavrov is just a dumb stooge to Putin.
Russia is dangerous because of its nuclear arsenal. That’s why Germany re-arming, so the rest of Europe. People should understand what’s the cause of global arms race.
If not nuke, Russia conventional army is a joke, degraded due to incompetence, nobody in Europe takes seriously. Even a little country Latvia has no fear. That’s why Putin and his stooge issue nuclear threat every week.
