PAF Future Acquisition Plans

PFX is real but current project progress is unknown. It’s designed most likely based on Turkish previous KAAN designs.

PFX fan designed it like this.
PFX medium weight, dual engine concept.

I, too, expect the PAF to acquire more J-10CEs, but it seems the PAF may have placed its bigger bet on the PFX as its next workhorse fighter. My guesstimate for the J-10CE fleet is around 72 aircraft, enough to equip four squadrons, with two each deployed in the northern and southern sectors.

However, the PFX factor could significantly influence future procurement decisions. If the PFX is indeed intended to be an MMCRA (medium multirole combat aircraft), the PAF may prefer to make up for the eventual shortfalls in both the JF-17 Block III and J-10CE fleets through a larger PFX programme rather than significantly expanding J-10CE acquisitions.

The PFX could also offer the PAF an opportunity to pursue a more diversified technological approach, combining indigenous Pakistani development with Turkish systems integration and Chinese technologies. Such a programme would potentially provide greater flexibility in shaping the PAF's future force structure while gradually increasing domestic capabilities and reducing dependence on a single foreign supplier. Much will ultimately depend on the PFX's development timeline, projected costs, and how ambitious the PAF intends to be with its requirements.

Just for fun?
That’s fine!

But whatever you do, don’t take it seriously!

Yes, hard to know what the PAF is exactly thinking (although some on here will claim they do).

This got me thinking though, as technology developments and software advances, if you remove the language issue, will future 6th Gen US v Chinese be very different for pilots?
J-10 is going through what F-16 went through when it was inducted. J-10 has air superiority role, which F-16 had when it was inducted but even the Mirages were primary ground attack while F-16s were made multirole with ATLIS pods.

How will 25th and 27th Sqd retire in current scenario? most importantly which aircraft will replace them ?
Can J-10 carry ALCMs like Ra'ad series? and would PAF use them as strike aircraft?

Go squadron by squadron and see the different variants of aicrafts flown by them. JF17A, B, Block III, F-16s AM/BM, 52+ and ADF, Mirage-III (different variants and ROSE-I), Mirage V-(different variants and ROSE-II/III),a nd finally how would stealth fill the gap considering 2025 scenario.

How can 18 x Stealth aircraft taxi from 1 base in opening phases of a war ? one drone attack on that base will wipe out all of them out. Can PAF afford stealth support infra at 7-8 x FOBs with flight formations of 3-4 stealth aircrafts at each FOB.

V-upgrade for all 75 x F-16s will take USD 10 Billion. In the same money, PAF can buy 72 x J-10CE. Or maybe 12-18 x stealth aircrafts.

Jummai ki namaz k baad chanda bhi aik option ho sakta hai
han Jama Masjid ke bhar se acha khasa maal a jaye ga, because given the shitty situation Pakistan's economy and 2 out of 4 province in a constant state of self-boom boom, i doubt we will ever have enough funds to buy or develop weapon systems to protect ourselves from the neighbor on the YEAST.

I have previously advocated for 'balloon mounted radars'.I am not sure if PAF plans this but it looks very useful.

25 sqn has been retired already. JF-17 has replaced Mirage in all roles and the only reason F-7PG and Mirages are flying is the same one as Indian Jaguars. It is not just about capability but you need cockpits to keep the pilots current and train them for more complex platforms.
