PAF pilot highlights how chinese J10C fighters has edged US F16's

I think we should invest in J-10Cs as an alternative to the F-16s.
we already take this path with the exception of 18 block 52 F-16 rest of our F-16s are near end of their service life (air frame life) but throwing F-16s in a dust bin could not be a wise decision, our main jet in future will be J-10C (air superiority) second line of defense will be F-16 and in near future post 2030 F-16 could be best replacement of Mirages and F-7PG and could become strike jet replacing Mirages

Did I say get rid of the existing fleet of F-16s?

NO!

Keep them, but from now onwards buy J-10Cs and Chinese equipment from now onwards.

China has come a long way from the 1990's, now.

Keep the F-16s. Yes upgrade the F-16s and get spare parts from Turkey and Ukraine.

OKAY!

But from now onwards use Chinese equipment, China is our neighbor and the quality of their products is quite good actually.

USA has been quite duplicitous with us especially with the Pressler amendment and all that bullshit.

Relying only on one source for defense will not be wise decision, we should also look for TOT from Türkiye and western EU like UK/Germany and Italy as much as we can to Improve our electronics/radars/avionics/EW etc etc, remember dude our F-7PG/Mirages still using Italian radars and French avionics

Remember we were about to get those U-214 Submarines from Germany in 2010s.

That failed.
Instead we got the Qing/Yuan class submarines from China.
Turkiye got U-214 submarines from Germany however.

These USA,NATO, and EU are dishonest towards Muslim nations.

Yes relying on China Only isn't right either, especially if they change their policies, etc.

But at least Chinese are more honest than the military businessmen in the West.

We have various defense related treaties and deals with EU/NATO, In fact our armed forces training/doctrine/deterrent/tactics are similar to WEST/US, In fact WEST/USA were/are the teachers of Pakistani Armed forces

Ha! During the Cold War maybe. Now the times have changed.

Time to look else where. USA was fair and honest when USSR was their enemy.

Ever since 9/11, USA has been quite nasty to the world. Look at the Iraq war for example.

This did not change the fact that we have still western doctrine/tactics/training/deterrent, for example Pakistan almost regularly participate RED FLAG exercise in USA, but we have an advantage to share and mix western doctrine with Soviet/Russian doctrine for better result, China have Soviet/Russian doctrine and India also have Soviet/Russian doctrine

True, and I agree with you Sir.

Its better to have the best of both worlds Chinese/Soviet and American/NATO equiptment.

With only 1 x J10 squadron, it cannot be stressed enough to raise one more ASAP. Just like 9 and 11 Sqds of F-16s complimented each other at the start.

That said, Is Indian AF more advanced/dangerous or RuAF ? Coz the F-16s that Ukrainians are flying are as advanced as PAF F-16s and they are facing Russian AF.

As for J-10, it was PAF that made it combat tested, not the Chinese and its the lowest tier fighter that PLAAF flies. Their choices are the likes of J-11 and J-16 as preference for aerial combat and strike. PAF flies 3rd gen Mirage-III/V along with 4th gen F-16s/JFTs and 4.5 gen J-10s and JFT Block-IIIs. That carries its own risks and surprises.

PAF holds F-16s in high esteem due to its versatility and capabilities even now. Ukraine is the finest example of recent F-16 combat against long range BVR of SU30s and SU35s of RuAF which F-16 AMs/BMs can't match 1 on 1.

I think a Ukrainian F-16 has shot down a Russian SU-35S also.

Apart from that, Ukrainian F-16 fighter jets have intercepted over 3,150 aerial targets (including 666 cruise missiles and ~2,500 drones) and carried out more than 650 airstrikes against ground targets since entering service. Most deployed aircraft are European-donated F-16AM/BM Mid-Life Update (MLU) variants. Ukrainian and Lockheed Martin officials have also discussed future potential transitions to modern Block 70/72 models

5 x F-16s lost so far in Ukraine.
Let's also take a look at Taiwan's F-16V.

Correct, Sir. Still we should diversify and lessen our dependence on F-16s.

I know our F-16s are combat tested. But USA is not reliable and they are dishonest.

Perhaps we should get the Chinese J-11 and J-16 for rent, if we cannot purchase them.

Let us keep the F-16s obviously, but after 2030 there is no need to buy anymore F-16s.

On October 12, 2026, Li Ching-jan, Chief of Staff of the Taiwan Air Force, confirmed during a legislative inquiry that:

The first two F-16V Block 70 fighter jets arrived in Taiwan on October 2, 2026. However, these aircraft were delivered in an "incomplete" state, lacking the full "Viper Shield" electronic warfare system. While some hardware components have been installed, the software is still under development.

Taiwan’s Minister of National Defense, Wellington Koo (Ku Li-hsiung), also confirmed that these two new fighter jets are not yet equipped with the complete electronic warfare system.

* Please note that this information comes from the Taiwanese military itself, not from media outlets in mainland China. In his response, Li Ching-jan specifically stated that the system is "still under development."

So, do some of our Pakistani friends still insist on comparing a fighter jet that is currently under development with one that is no longer being procured for domestic use and is now produced exclusively for export?

I doubt that PAF will go for J-11 or J-16. It will be J-35 eventually.

It will be flying against J-11, and J-16, backed through E-2. The radar, EW suite and weaponry sill be top notch on this variant.
Yes. I saw a TVBS news report. Taiwanese experts also stated that the F-16V has the capability to counter the J-10C.
