Kylian Mbappe apologises after ‘dictator’ comment angers Chinese fans

I am not saying that I agree with that French football player or some Western China or PRC haters. I am just saying Mao is not perfect or God, he made some serious mistakes.
There is no such thing as a perfect person in this world—this is a core tenet of materialism. Both traditional Chinese culture and modern Chinese thought are, in fact, rooted in materialism.

As for the controversies surrounding Mao Zedong’s domestic policies, these are internal matters for the Chinese people themselves; there is no need for foreign interference.

From the perspective of modern China, Mao Zedong’s domestic policies are a subject of debate, not a clear-cut error. This is a crucial distinction.

A "controversy" arises precisely because issues can be viewed from different angles, leading to differing perspectives. These issues are difficult to explain clearly within an English-language context, as many profound philosophical concepts have no equivalent in that context.

But in any case, if foreigners with malicious intent offer malicious assessments of Mao Zedong, they will inevitably face retaliation from China.

It is as simple as that.

He could.
If you and your country find such behavior acceptable, that is your own business. We Chinese do not accept it.

Let me be more straightforward. We accept Chinese media or celebrities' opinions and evaluations of Mao Zedong. Evaluating Mao Zedong was even one of the questions in the history subject of the Chinese college entrance examination, and no matter what the answer was, it would be judged as the correct answer. But French media and celebrities cannot do this. This is China's sovereignty.

If you wanted to mock the British monarchy, in the single most targeted way one could possibly mock them, inbred Germans would feel far more offended that any of us common folk here in Britain.
They pretty much can't do that in Canada esp for people with no British heritage.

He could. Freedom of expression. But he didnt.

But Mao wasnt a dictator? Starved and killed millions with his Great Jump Ahead and Cultural Revolution and One-Party State?

If Mao was not a dictator, then Stalin wasnt also.
The term "dictator" is the problem. It is subjective, narrowly defined, and completely intended to demean when deployed in this non-academic context.

If we consider human history, practically EVERY political leader in 99.99999% of the human historical timeline is actually a "dictator".

Even Athenian "democracy" is a complete sham as countless groups of civilians were excluded from said "democracy". That too was a form of dictatorship, merely "by council".

I agree with China on this.

Mbappe is an ignorant numpty who repeated what he was culturally brainwashed to repeat out here in the west, that "dictators" are a species that exist only outside of Europe.

We could really explore this to great depth but to keep it brief, China has simply said what everybody around the world was thinking anyway.

How dare these hypocrites out here indoctrinate us to think "dictators" are some comic book villains that only exist in eastern lands. These people themselves have enjoyed living under dictators for 99.99999% of their historical existence....and in many respects, we could argue that we still are living in a very controlled politically environment.

The daughter asked her father, "Our cat complains that the house they live in is too small, the dog complains that there is no meat for dinner, and the cow complains that they work too long every day. What should I do?"

The father said, "We can give them votes to choose one person from me and my wife to be their manager."

The daughter asked, "Why can't we just give the cat a big house, add meat to the dog's dinner, and reduce the cow's working hours?"

The father said, "Because our neighbors and his stupid dogs will call me a dictator."

A dictator is a lone-ruler, the strongest leader of a nation, with no rivals or legal opposition.

Mao was a dictator, like Stalin, like Pol Pot, like Pinochet, like Mobutu.

Bloodthirsty sociopaths and sons of whores who didnt care about human lifes.

Part of this definition is correct. Part of it is simple misguidance stemming from a western education rooted in subjectivity and without any critical and independent analysis of the evolution of the term "dictator".

Have you never heard of the end justifying the means?

I can't speak for others listed, but Mao - it can be argued - had adopted this approach.

Dictatorship is an underrated approach to governance and - if done well - is EXACTLY what a nation needs in order to thrive. I could talk about Pakistan in this sense but I don't wish to derail the thread.

I would surmise, as a keen folllower of football news in general, that Mbappe is an idiot for multiple reasons, including this particular faux-pas. French footballers can be too mouthy, like Mbappe or Pogba, or they can be humble geniuses, like Zidane or Cantona.
