There is no such thing as a perfect person in this world—this is a core tenet of materialism. Both traditional Chinese culture and modern Chinese thought are, in fact, rooted in materialism.I am not saying that I agree with that French football player or some Western China or PRC haters. I am just saying Mao is not perfect or God, he made some serious mistakes.
As for the controversies surrounding Mao Zedong’s domestic policies, these are internal matters for the Chinese people themselves; there is no need for foreign interference.
From the perspective of modern China, Mao Zedong’s domestic policies are a subject of debate, not a clear-cut error. This is a crucial distinction.
A "controversy" arises precisely because issues can be viewed from different angles, leading to differing perspectives. These issues are difficult to explain clearly within an English-language context, as many profound philosophical concepts have no equivalent in that context.
But in any case, if foreigners with malicious intent offer malicious assessments of Mao Zedong, they will inevitably face retaliation from China.
It is as simple as that.
