US 2026 Midterm Elections Thread

Democratic establishment was totally absent in the last two years. I only saw Bernie Sanders taking his strong lead. AOC to a certain extent, and Sen Kelly.
But the left of the party was totally energized by Mamdani.

They did not need any direction. They did but they thought was right. Goddamn, I’m so proud of this young generation. This generation motivated by a future that is looking increasingly bleak. Horrified by what’s going on in this country and around the world.

Democrats needs to be the democrats before Clinton sold the party In the 90s.

I am happy for the DSA too. 30 years ago anyone in the US who said "I am a Democratic Socialist" would instantly have to answer why do they want to put people in Gulags. It required the people born after the Cold War to reach adulthood for that to start changing.

Democrat Nancy Lacore, a retired Navy admiral who was FIRED by Pete Hegseth, is projected to WIN the congressional seat formerly held by Republican Nancy Mace, according to Decision Desk HQ.

Trump won this district by 13 POINTS in 2024!

Lacore, who served more than 30 years in the Navy and oversaw more than 60,000 sailors, campaigned against Hegseth’s disastrous Pentagon leadership and Trump’s increasingly unpopular war in Iran.

Now she’s headed to Congress after flipping a traditionally Republican district that had been gerrymandered to favor the GOP.

JD Vance X post cuts to the point :

Right! Poor Vance: Could not openly oppose 'his President' and ended up sacrificing his political career.

"But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone. Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were:
1) End the war2)
Focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Put America First
4) Change our relationship to Israel
"

Hopefully Dems don't make the same mistake. They need to complete stop this illegal Iran war funding this Dec

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the first things they do is impeach hegseth
Prior to this election, Rep. Yassamin Ansari from AZ had already filed 6 Articles of Impeachment against Hegseth. Those articles will likely get traction in the new year.

Impeached or not, will the Senate have the votes to remove him? Same as the President, a 2/3-majority is required to vote for removal. In Hegseth's case, there might be enough Republicans who would go along with the Democrats. You never know.

As for impeachment? Go for it. Impeach him, the President, and every member of his cabinet. Do it every day. But without a 2/3-majority in the Senate to convict and remove, it's a waste of effort.

Some people here really do need to read up on the federal impeachment process.
