Speaking of Mk-82s, just saw this pic of Pakistan Air Force F-16 loaded with 12 Mk-82s and a pair of AIM-9s and no AIM-120s. That's a heavy load and with only 1 belly tank. Despite the induction of their J-10Cs, the F-16 is still the workhorse of the fleet, just like in the EAF.
If I'm not mistaken, not all their F-16s fire the AIM-120, just the block 52s and I believe the 16 A/Bs that underwent MLUs in 2006 (not 100% sure I could be wrong about that but I think it's right someone can correct me if I'm wrong) and then received the first batch of 500 AIM-120s with the delivery of the first batch of block 52s in 2010.

At the same time, another prototype of the same rifle was showcased earlier at EDEX 2021 exhibition in Cairo and had a significantly more original design. Both receiver cover and pistol grip were clearly designed from scratch and not based on existing products.
But apparently, there is another Kalashnikov upgrade kit that hasn’t been in the public eye as much as the previous two prototypes. This third upgrade, which looks significantly more up to date, was spotted in the promotional video featuring Egypt Special Forces Unit called “Black Cobra”. This unit is a Special Operations outfit within the Central Security Forces, which is the part of the Interior Ministry.

According to the sources within the Egyptian military-industrial complex, this particular modernization package was designed for the military Special Forces by an active duty police officer and firearms design engineer Zeyad Refaat. Later this design was picked up by the state-owned Egyptian military factory “300”, which offered it to the “Black Cobra” unit.
So far, only the third upgrade kit was actually seen in action, and it is not yet known if other prototypes will actually be procured by the Egyptian military or MOI.

@The SC , we know the standard Rafale helmets have the black connection piece already in place to slide and affix the NVG optics. The EAF insignia on the oxygen mask is a cool touch.
BTW, I was talking to someone on X who's up on the latest fighter jets news and had just made a post about L'Armée de l'Air having just delivered the first six of the twelve Rafales to Croatia and were inducted into its service 2 days ago on April 25th and the remaining 6 will also be supplied out of ex-Armée de l'Air inventory and be delivered by 2025.
It made me wonder about the EAF's order and its timeline. So I asked him if he had any info. He said he didn't, but that he suspected the delivery should start this year, pretty much what we were all thinking. He also said that the production line at Dassault is running hot with all the orders for Indonesia @Indos , Greece, and the UAE. Then it made me think, can you imagine the 80 FR4-1s the UAE is ordering what they're going to be like? Considering they order nothing but the best of the best top of the line with every single bell and whistle lol, like their F-16 Block 60s. Should be interesting to see what they get with theirs.

I am still standing with my point : i am against this new styled AK. If the standard rifle was the one with Cobra Unit then I am ok. Every country is changing their standard rifle to new modern version like Iran with Mosaf-2 (HK-416 rifle style), Serbia with M19, Vietnam with STV series etc...

Yes, exactly because it has the new handguard compared to the original MP5 these SOP forces have been using. But this one still has the original buttstock. It's basically an upgraded version with a new handguard that has the built-in pic rails and you can tell that one he has is brand spanking new.

I hear ya. The Black Cobra's aren't even using the standard new one, it seems. That pic taken from the video looks like one of the other two assault Maadis and not the one in production. It looks amazing. Maybe they're going with a limited production on them since they'll only be used with these special units?

During the EDEX-2023 exhibition, we inquired from the Egyptian military production about a new combat rifle. Their comment was that the Egyptian army had tested the new Russian rifles, the AK-200 FAMILY & AK-15/19, and preferred Egyptian copies of them because they are more reliable and more flexible in use than the new Russian rifles.

I hope he's right. That thing is awesome, I'm really starting to like it the more I learn about it and it's had some significant improvements since they first announced the interest in it way back in 2017 I believe. Thats a good thing.
All the features are really fantastic from the targeting system to the camera screens for both the commander and gunner. The little automated armor doors that cover the sensitive sensors on the turret, the modular armor and advanced ERA and so much more.
The only thing I couldn't understand is what they meant by "automatic screening system which prevents the tank from being hit by a missile". That sounds like an APS but they never mentioned the Arena or any other one. But they showed the animation of a couple of explosions that looked like they were taking out incoming threats.
Either way, I hope it starts soon.
