Korea expects Egypt to complete the “Golden Eagle” combat aircraft deal during the current year.
Negotiations are continuing between Egypt and the Korea Aerospace Industries Corporation (KAI) over the deal for the FA-50 "Golden Eagle" light combat aircraft and advanced training, with discussions currently centering on the number of aircraft to be included in the potential deal, the official Korean news agency Yonhap reported.
The contract with the Korean side includes the transfer of manufacturing technology to the Egyptian side to manufacture Korean aircraft locally within the Helwan factory of the Arab Organization for Industrialization.
Egypt, represented by the Arab Organization for Industrialization, signed a joint cooperation protocol with the Korean Company for Fasal Industries (KAI) by the end of 2022 to cooperate in localizing manufacturing technology for advanced training aircraft and light killers (LCA) of the FA-50 Golden Eagle and the T-50 training version.
According to the Arab Organization for Industrialization, cooperation with the Korean Company for the Local Manufacture of Advanced Training and Light Combat Aircraft aims to meet the needs of the Egyptian army and export to African and Arab countries.
The areas of cooperation under the signed protocol also include exchanging experiences, training and qualifying the authority's human cadres on manufacturing and maintenance work according to the latest digital manufacturing systems.
The chairman of the board of directors of the Korea Aerospace Industries Group confirmed in remarks carried by Korean media last year that there are negotiations with the Egyptian side on the export and transfer of manufacturing technology for the Korean aircraft "Golden Eagle FA-50".
He added that the company is focusing with Egypt at the present time, as it is likely that Egypt will settle during 2024 on the best tender submitted within the framework of the tender for advanced training and light combat aircraft launched by the Egyptian army, expecting Egypt's intention to conclude a preliminary contract to obtain 36 aircraft through the transfer of manufacturing technology, with the possibility of increasing the number in the future to reach 100 aircraft.
An official at the Korean company said last December: "If the Egyptian chooses the Golden Eagle aircraft, we will build a win-win relationship by advancing the Egyptian aviation industry and continue to strengthen strategic partnerships with Africa and the Middle East."
Through the transfer of manufacturing technology, KAI seeks to become a regional bridge for the manufacture and export of Korean advanced training and light combat aircraft of the Golden Eagle model, in addition to establishing a regional center to provide technical and maintenance services to the countries operating this type of Korean aircraft now and in the future in the Middle East and Africa.
If the deal goes through, KAI aims to cooperate with Egypt to advance Egypt's research and development capabilities in the aerospace industry, as well as build an integrated aerospace ecosystem in the country.
It is worth noting that the Korean Aerospace Industries Company officially announced its participation in the activities of the first edition of the Egypt International Air Show EIAS-2024, to be held at El Alamein International Airport next September.

That picture is basically the OPV model included in the Italian mega deal that also included the 24 Typhoons, the 6 Bergamini FREMMs, the 24 Aramecci 346 Advanced Trainers, the miliary spy satellite and 20 of these OPV fast patrol ships that kinda look like mini Gowind corvettes with that cone dome.
If ASY can build them in Egypt through EDGE, that would ultimately be a much better option in more ways than one than including them in the mega deal. It almost appears that is what they were thinking after the mega deal was announced and they only took 2 of the FREMMs to start with and are trying to negotiate the Eurofighter Typhoons separately as well as these, most likely because it turns out to be less money this way. Let's hope it happens, along with the other 1768 projects and acquisition wish list lol.

And he's right about the benefits of entering a JV or ToT with Turkey and I like how he's super objective and gives them credit for what they've accomplished and where they are and how it would benefit us and hopefully some things would benefit them as he aptly said it's a "win-win situation.
But what sha7abeyya aircraft is he talking about? The Hurjet? He never mentioned it by name but seems pretty excited about it. Only thing I know is an EAF delegation was checking out the Hurjet recently and that's about it.
He's definitely one of the few good YouTubers. I like the wooden plaque of the golden eagle bust on the wall behind him. It looks really well made. The Golden Egle, good old Egyptian coat of arms on the flag.
The eagle is probably the most common coat of arms throughout history. One of the widely used symbol by countries because of what the eagle exemplifies. From the Nazis to the United States and in-between.
Speaking of the US', did you know that when the founding forefathers were deciding which animal to use as the symbol of the United States and George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, John Hancock & all chose co. all chose the North American Bald Eagle for obvious reasons. Well guess who objected? Benjamin Franklin, from the back row yelled NAY!!! lol
He wanted the wild turkey to be the mascot & symbol. His reasons was that the turkey was strong, defends itself and doesn't get bullied and he admired those qualiies to describe the new nation and he thought the bald eagle was mostly a pirate and a scavenger. Hardly befitting of the symbol of a new and strong America that just beat the British Empire. It's true the bald eagle prefers to scavenge and even scavenge/steal food from other predators (not a redeeming quality lol) but is still a magnificent hunter, especially scooping fish out of the water since it belongs to the fish-family of eagles - Haliaeetus Leucocephalus. Needless to say, Benny was quickly overruled!
Golden Eagle is the most powerful of all the eagle species, including the massive Harpy eagle.
Got its name from the golden crest on its nape.
The first Nisr El Missry was this fella, 1952.
Then when the United Arab Republic was formed it was this one which Syria has kept till today, I believe.
Then in 1958 it finally became what we know today as Nisr MIssry.
When they're used by the other members of the united Arab Republic, it was referred to as Nisr Salah El Din or The Eagle of Saladin.

I was sifting through a bunch of pics and saw this and was like oopp, wait a minute that rifle look interesting lol! First time I've seen this rifle in the EA.
All these SOF units have some very cool and new & modern equipment mashAllah. Hopefully it keeps them safe.
A little bit goofy on the trigger discipline there but those guys in that unit can get away with that. Not the grunts.

First, the negotiations with SOUTH Korean are complex and long because Egypt wants a complete technology transfer package for air manufacturing that will include the transfer of fighter manufacturing technology in the form of advanced training aircraft, light fighters, and UCAV LOYAL WING MAN aircraft components.
Contract for two aircraft
The T-50 aircraft for 70 aircraft and the FA-50 aircraft
The reason for the delay in the contract was that South Korea did not complete the development of the T-50 aircraft, as it extended the range by adding a 300-gallon fuel tank. The Koreans agreed with Orion to integrate European METEOR missiles into their aircraft.
Egyptian local production will allow the addition of other ammunition
Egypt is already moving towards manufacturing air-to-air missiles locally, and the winner of the tender has not yet been announced
The Koreans developed their own Cheonryong cruise missile, weighing 1,150 kilograms, with a range of 500 kilometers, and a various ammunition package.

The Turks' chances are weak in the HURJET plane for many reasons. The plane has no operational service record and has not entered service. Egypt does not buy projects on paper.
The Koreans also provided Egypt with the production of the TA-50/FA-50 aircraft for customers in the Middle East and Africa, and Egypt will be responsible for the reconstruction, maintenance, and manufacture of spare parts for aircraft that serve in the Middle East and Africa as well.
