What Pakistanis in general fail to understand is that we have 250m population and people will always be protesting for one reason or another, their demands maybe good or even unacceptable, they still have every right to protest and the state job is to negotiate, explain to the people on why its not possible, not send security forces and kill, harass, kidnap people. This has always been the case in Pakistan, be it Balochistan, KPK, Bangladesh, AJK, GB and even Lahore Model Town and anti Pti operations. Its absolutely disgusting and unacceptable, tomorrow it could be our own blood. I love Pakistan and all of its people, the people complaints must be addressed.

And the sole reason is that the elected representatives are not in power.

They have to go out and demand a vote in next elections. That's why politicians go for talks and negotiations, they listen to their constituency, they know what they want.

Army and ISI does not. The local informant might tell them what's going on, but all the Lt Col knows is to quell it by force. Banda utha lo, aghwa kar lo, mar do, that's the response from these guys, and this is the result.

Protestors kay leader ko uthanay ka idea kisi ISI kay Major ka hi hoga, who would have been ordered to do so from Kohsar complex.

The army man does not have to go out and get a vote in elections, and he doesn't care what the people think of him. He has no repercussions for his actions.

they want electricity at cost price? you dont et that in most places of the world, nevermind ajk where a good chunk of people dont even pay their bill.

the groups have been comlaining about electricity prices for over a year now and have been telling everyone not to pay their electricity bills, which they havent been doing for nearly a year.

when the police raided the houses of those responciable, things got out of hand resulting in what we have today.

i woulds stamp out these protests and anyone not paying their bill have their services cut off.

People in AJK do pay the bills, we have electricity meters, at times people have to pay for every socket for some odd reason. Those who don't pay, I agree action should be taken against them, they are most likely the mafias, politicans and police.

The people of dadyal, mirpur, chakwari etc have been promised free electricity when we was asked to vacate our ancestral lands for mangla dam back in the 1950-60s. Our families made great sacrifice for the nation. The graves of our grandparents are in the dam reservoir, along with all our history.

Later the promise of free electricity was retracted and then it would be at a reduced rate. For the last 20 years, not only was these promises broken, electricity supply became intermittent when the dam was producing electricity.

On top of all this, the police are mostly recruited from Punjab, same for government jobs etc. this is unfair to locals and we see clear abuse of power at our detriment.

There is a strong feeling of abuse from outsiders who get government jobs and jobs in banks etc. Indeed I know many elders who have been robbed by bank officials of their savings.

If you are investing in a real estate project, the approvals of work will require many Lacs of corruption payments to Punjab officials posted in AK. They usual turn up at the final stages just before completion to squeeze many more Lacs out of investors.

Ak number plates cars are almost always stopped when travelling into Punjab for corruption payments by police.

The bridge to connect mirpur to pota sher, is 95% constructed but for reasons unclear to everyone, a final key bridge section is still yet to be completed. This project would save hours of travel time between villages around the dam reservoir.

How the troubles started.. a peaceful protests demanding fulfilment of promises made by Pak government war brutally repressed by police. Expired tear gas was used on multiple occasions, many people including children had to be hospitalised. The following day further protests again brutally attacked by the police. During the night police raids were conducted against protesters and their families humiliated, beaten and threats to take kids away. Sounds familiar to our Punjabi brothers??

This is the situation.

Sorry, Pakistan isn't the US, nor do we have the resources to subsidize one ethnicity over the others. Everyone is equal here, and we need to develop first. Everyone has to contribute to the pie first to get royalties. The state built the dam, not Kashmiris. They got displaced but got way more out of it than they could have imagined.
