Another few points.
Just like giving 'X' as a form of a weapon in hands of anyone who can now post whatever they want. The strategy of PTI has failed on all accounts even with use of this platform as a weapon in hand of everyone. Bajwa completed his tenure, nothing happened. SS became temporary PM. Munir came into power. SS became PM and PMLN came into Govt. In the meanwhile IK resisted and then was kicked into jail.
So is the use of disinformation through social media effective, especially using 'X' for political means ? It has not given any meaningful result to PTI.
This means IK's strategy has badly failed. He doesn't have enough brains to resort to a new strategy except than crying like Bajwa's ex-gf from prison. Coming back to use of social media by public especially 'X'. If something happens in actuality, there will obviously be 10 different narratives as the toy is in the hand of the monkey and he will use it however he wants. It doesn't help in real life to make any meaningful difference, does it ? feeding news over news. Forming opinions of all sorts. But what is the practicality of all this ? lets take for example, the use of social media didn't help IK from being kicked into jail, neither it is helping him make his exit from jail.
So the first point is, how is use of disinformation helping any political member achieve his goals ?
Secondly, its the public who reacts to this disinformation and helps spread it virally. But can public really do anything in real life to actually make a difference ? Like something for Pakistan's prosperity ? or react to a terrorist attack on them or around them ? or react to natural calamity ? The news of such happenings will obviously reach the government and they will take action, but it has become the only job of public to spread news.
Another example, does the public know how to stop a platoon level attack by Indian Army ? no, public is not trained for this. But in any such instance in a related news, they will give their comments, react to it and try to become analysts. So in real life, public doesn't have access to a lot meetings or the decision making criteria, but when any news hits the media, it seems somehow everyone knows what is going on. Its absurd beyond limit. Debunk it all and some other story comes out and in most cases we wont know what is actuality since none of us was there behind closed doors. Same for journalists, they get one piece of news, they start connecting dots and make a new conclusion out of it. Things move so rapidly that there is no time to concentrate on old false news since 10 other new incidents have been posted on 'X'.
Thirdly, due to the nature of propaganda war, the intel agencies have intensified their cyber surveillance through data analytics, cyber security, sim geolocating etc. The threats of political maneuvers has made them increase their vigil and enhance capabilities of intel departments looking into internal matters of Pakistan including political. So if some ABC wing of intel agency had 50 staff, now it has 500 with related equipment.
The point is Government and intel agencies adapt to the circumstances, they have analysts who foresee many risks and threats in advance and present measures. This re-iterates what i mentioned before - the failure of PTI's strategy which seemed effective at start but is now down the drain.
