Iranian President Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdollahian die in helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan

Unfortunate and sad incident. Iranian military needs to be involved and find the president. The news doesn't look good, some are saying it was hard landing and some are saying the helicopter has crashed. Complete incompetence, how can the pilot give go ahead in such a bad weather.
if they involve directly , there will be many bad rumors ... Iranian medias and political figures are bad in this kind of situation

now 3 of the people searching go missing too

Mostly in our competent country, where everything is managed well by skilled people in the right positions, martyrs cause additional martyrs during search operations or funerals of martyrs. I hope this news is not true and that further deaths will not occur.

Plenty of IRGC/Artesh/Government officials died from 1990-2010 in aviation crashes due to poor visibility/poor aircraft.

But yes I think the likelihood this problem would have occurred if your helicopter wasn’t from Vietnam era would drop significantly.
some of those were inside jobs , like crush of Irgc general aircraft which killed so many of high ranking commanders

Imagine losing your president for a couple hours. Only in Iran. And I thought the Slovakia assaination attempt was incompetence.

All those fancy drones (Gaza, S-171, Kaman-22, etc etc) and yet no results.

Can’t be completely ruled out. But IRGC killing IRGC doesn’t seem rationale. IRGC back then was a lot weaker then today. Thus you would expect to see more of such acts today rather than back then.

Since then Iranian aviation engineers have done a remarkable job keeping these dinosaurs flying with such limited budget. Both military and civilian aviation has drastically improved in Iran in last 25 years despite no significant amount of new planes.

How does anyone know it was a rough landing when they haven't yet reached the crash site? If the status of the helicopter was reported over the air then the fate of the president would already be known.

Iran has good relation with Russia and china. What exactly is stopping them to buy some modern helis for VIP duties.

Maybe they will now invest in suitable helicopter engine development and their own line of helicopters. How long will you continue to fly Bell’s?

What ever happened to the ‘national helicopter project’ for Iran?
? It’s a security issue. Tech is far removed from this.

46 search and rescue teams are searching for the helicopter, 4 of them have reached the approximate site of the crash
