The thought of having to fight to defend racist Eastern Europeans don't sit well with me, however, Russia still remains the bigger threat to Türkiye and Western Europe IMHO.

Even the UK/France do not trust the USA to use nuclear weapons to protect them from Russian nuclear weapons.

As for Ukraine, Russia does not want to or need to use nuclear weapons and so that reference is irrelevant to this crucial question.

You might want to recheck that as it would require Nato(i.e US) approval to use.

If you think that either Europe or USA will commit suicide for Turkey then that is fair enough.

As for Russia, they have no interest in attacking Turkey and so there is little logic to Turkey being part of Nato.

From the outside it seems strange that Turkey would not have left years ago. Lots of responsibilities but little to no benefit.

Honestly, looking at Russian Impersonal history, it was bad, but modern Russia wants to be accepted within the global community. Let's be honest: the West has used Russia in major conflicts and discarded it when no longer needed. It wanted to be like Europeans, like Turkey, but Europe never really considered them a part of their sphere.

In short, I do feel bad for them.

The Turkish defense industry and the Turkish military doctrine were built with American support.

Moreover, Russia has always been the biggest threat to Turkey. We know very well that throughout history the Russians have wanted to go down to the Mediterranean.

Of course, we trust neither Russia nor America, but Turkish interests always dictate that we should remain in the western bloc against Russia.

As far as Russia using nukes, using nukes against Turkiye is unlikely unless it becomes a NATO aggressor against Russia. In that case, Turkiye will be treated just as other NATO members - enemies. It is best if Turkiye stays neutral rather than fight Russia in the name of NATO membership, even if that means quitting NATO

That's not how things work. Turkey did know where and how many Nukes present in their land but yes they need approval and codes to launch them means they can only be used with US approval.

Lets be real here if Nato troops landed in Ukraine and advance like that map shows against Russian forces we are looking at a nuclear war.

Its all very hyped up. Russia isn't going to attack any other country at all. Russia's only ideal end goal was Ukraine till river dnieper. (almost half of Ukraine). That's all. Why on earth Russia would even want to expand the war, there is no strategic advantage doing so. Russia knows direct confrontation with NATO isn't good for it. Secondly, NATO also knows the same that direct confrontation with Russia is extremely risky. That's the country with largest nuclear weapons on earth. Tiny NATO countries like France, UK, Germany won't survive but Russia & US are the only likely countries to survive in NATO vs Russia nuclear war because of massive land mass of both countries. So NATO isn't going to attack Russia, no one wants to create a pretext for nuclear war.

The Americans, at least, keep their promises. With Russia, you're basically playing Russian Roulette and most of the time you will lose, because it's their game. Many people from the former Soviet Union will tell you how untrustworthy and shady the Russian way of conduct is.
