People vote for like minded condidates, if one believes cow pee can cure cancer, they will vote for a condidate sharing the same opinion, this is why we see so many amateurish politicians whose full time jobs used to be stand up comedians, actors, athletes, musicians, models ...being voted into the top office.
In our Chinese eyes , this kind of popularity contest based democracy is a clownish joke, which was never our way of governance.

Chinese people think running a country is like running a company, people can share suggestions but in the end one person or at least a small group of people should have the power to decide and push through a plan to get a result as soon as possible.

If a company doesn't have a clear decision maker and all people can argue which way this company should go and what this company should do. It'll be a failed company in no time.

What takes China one year to have it done would take US 20 years if not more. Cause they spend 90% of their time and energy in persuading or attacking each other before anything can actually get off the ground.

One Canadian friend told me that after living in China for 5 years, what he admired China the most is for whatever project, a couple of leaders made a decision at night, the next morning construction workers are already there on the site working.
In Canada it has to be voted through many levels of local governments, and after a decade and millions of dollars being spent, the project would most probably die in water anyway.
Many China haters and bashers know next to nothing about China, never lived in China, their image of China is totally shaped by the anti China western media bombardment hitting them their whole life.

He is just one leader, how many terms Franklin Roosevelt served? Xi won't break China, and if most Chinese people are ok with it, why you are so pissed? what does he have anything to do with you?

Me pissed? LOL! I want China to continue to limit itself by being what it is. :D

After 2 decades, Beijing finally reclaimed the top spot in subway total milage, I hope Beijing can keep this WORLD NUMBER ONE title at least for a while, not just days or weeks.

Good job by China.

What about the Maglev plans? I heard there is a proposal to build one between Beijing and Shanghai.

US, France, South Korea etc. weren't going through uncotrolled population growth for 50 years so they don't need to build all that rail length,

How the hell is this news supposed to be positive?

India has more population than China….

India has more population than China….

Therefore I did not mention India. 'Next 10 countries together- 9 have far lower population. So how the heck does this statement make any sense? You can pull the same statistic- CHina has more cars than France, more Planes than UK and so on.

Having large population dosent negate hard work and dedication that takes to buil 40 000 km of HSR.

Many countries has neither the know-how, money, expertise or bureaucracy to build state of the art transportation technology.

Thats why its a huge achievement by China. Considering it was almost like a third world country only 40 years ago.
