Not exactly. The issue after WWI was what to do with the remnants of the Ottoman Empire. The new state of Turkey didn't want anything to do with the Middle East - not beyond Kurdistan - and pretty much endorsed the arrangement of Mandates-to-become-states. Israel - the Mandate of Palestine - was one of these, along with Iraq, Syria, etc.

The audacity of these child killers. Hamas was fighting them tooth and nail to defend Palestinians in Gaza. Hamas' military wing was never defeated. They planned a prolonged guerilla war and were superbly executing it under the circumstances.
