Bangladesh Socio-Political Crisis 2024 and onwards

It's not possible to bring down Hasina's government, India won't agree to it unless opposition parties make a deal with Indian government.

Wait untill you learn how other pro Indian governments were brought down before. This isn't the main issue, as much as you want to make it about yourself.

chichaa dont worry about Indians and Modi we are happy with PM MODI thats why he is owr PM for third term despite all games played by ecosystem funded by europeans and chinese like they funded against Trump but we are different thats why pakistan is where it is today and India has achived what it has today cause we dont think what Europeans or Chinese want us to think about owr own priorities

WE ARE DIFFERENT FROM THOSE IN LAND OF THE PURE ;) :P
Tell me something different about yourself. i am here to learn. Can you share pls

India wouldn't welcome U.S. presence in Bangladesh. It would only deteriorate India-U.S. relations, U.S. presence in Pakistan has only complicated India-Pakistan relations.

A "perfect storm" has happened over the last 4 years in BD.

Covid-19, Ukraine war and also the corruption as regards "freedom fighter" quota have all come to a head now where desperate students feel they have little to lose by rising up against the government.

India has been able to mitigate the inability to provide enough jobs for graduates by literally sending in excess of 1 million of them to countries such as UK and Canada over the last 2-3 years, due to its gepolotical influence and having Indians in key government positions in those countries. BD does not have this option to alleviate the unemployment of its graduates.

Where do we go now from here?

It is obvious that the security forces used too much force and we need some kind of accountability as to those who gave orders to fire rashly.

Also the quotas need to radically be scaled back that they are a tiny portion of total goverment jobs and anyway recruitment should be based on merit.

Overthrowing this government would just bring chaos and instability and we may see a succession of short-lived governments and the attendant violence and extra economic pain to go along with this. Be careful what you wish for as the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Covid-19 had an impact. It is over.

Ukraine war has zero impact anymore. There was a spike in oil prices. Now oil prices are lower than the start of the Ukraine war

It is nonsense if you think Indians can emigrate to foreign countries because of geopolitical influence.

In any case emigration is no policy substitute for the number of people India/Pakistan/Bangladesh produce. India has 25 million people. All the migration hardily accounts for 300k or 400k. The numbers are similar for Pakistan & Bangladesh.

The problems in Bangladesh reflect the poor infrastructure and low level of human resources in the country.

Unlike the army generals in Pakistan I think Hasina has done a great job in the past decade. She & her officials might have to change tactics and strategies to get Bangladesh to the net level.

Bangladesh needs help from China, America, Japan and Europe. If India cannot provide the help those countries will be approached.

Your level of thinking is a little on the shallow side.

Covid-19 and Ukraine war combined have decimated BD foreign reserves.
That is the fundamental problem with BD economy right now.

It will take another 1-2 years according to all major economic forecasters for BD economy to again be the fastest growing in S Asia.

India just got lucky due to multiple reasons as otherwise it would be in same situation as BD.

Nothing has changed structurally for Bangladesh - pre-covid, present and 2 years from now

Don't know where to start as I'm not aware of recent developments but BD was doing great economically until last year right? I never knew quota system was equally hated in BD. Digging deeper, it has to be more than that. The youth doesn't accept right denial at any cost.

I hope things settle down there for good.

Bangladesh needs help from China, America, Japan and Europe. If India cannot provide the help those countries will be approached.
I am not talking about financial help or American investment in Bangladesh's infrastructure, but if US tries to establish military bases in Bangladesh, India is likely to sabotage this effort. There is significant distrust between India and USA, and an attempt to create a military base in Bangladesh will only increase this distrust.

If Hasina is keeping Delhi happy why does it even matter ?

In any case permanent American military base in Bangladesh is probably not happening

Dude, chill as this is not happening.

US tried to overthrow Hasina last year and there is no chance she will not be PM for the rest of the 2020s.

Bangladesh protests to resume after ultimatum ignored

DHAKA (AFP): Bangladeshi students called new street protests for Monday after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government ignored an ultimatum to release their leaders and apologise for those killed in deadly unrest.

Student rallies against civil service job quotas this month sparked days of violence that killed at least 205 people including several police officers, according to an AFP count of police and hospital data.

The clashes were some of the worst of Hasina’s 15-year tenure but her government has since largely restored order by deploying troops, imposing a curfew and shutting down the internet nationwide.

At least half a dozen leaders of Students Against Discrimination, the group that organised the initial protests, are among thousands since taken into police custody.

“The government is continuing to show complete and utter insensitivity to our movement,” Abdul Kader, one of the group’s coordinators, said in a statement.

“We are calling for a protest rally across the country,” he added. “We are requesting all citizens of Bangladesh to show solidarity with our demands and join in our movement.”

Students Against Discrimination leaders had vowed to end a week-long moratorium on new demonstrations if police failed to release their leaders by Sunday evening.

The group’s demands also include a public apology from Hasina for the violence, the dismissal of several of her ministers, and the reopening of schools and universities around the country that were shuttered at the height of the unrest.

At least 9,000 people have been arrested nationwide since the unrest began, according to Prothom Alo, Bangladesh’s largest daily newspaper.

Troops are still patrolling urban areas and a nationwide curfew remains in force but it has been progressively eased since the start of last week.

Bangladesh’s mobile internet network was restored on Sunday, 11 days after a nationwide blackout imposed at the height of the unrest, in another sign of the government’s confidence that it was in control of the situation.

Protests began this month over the reintroduction of a quota scheme reserving more than half of all government jobs for certain groups.

With around 18 million young Bangladeshis out of work, according to government figures, the move deeply upset graduates facing an acute jobs crisis.

Critics say the quota is used to stack public jobs with loyalists to the ruling Awami League.

The Supreme Court cut the number of reserved jobs last week but fell short of protesters’ demands to scrap the quotas entirely.

Hasina, 76, has ruled Bangladesh since 2009 and won her fourth consecutive election in January after a vote without genuine opposition.

Her government is accused by rights groups of misusing state institutions to entrench its hold on power and stamp out dissent, including the extrajudicial killing of opposition activists.

At least Indians and Bangaldeshi languages are understood in each other countries, food is similar type, dressing is similar types... Opposite to this China is completely an alien for BD....
This doesn't mean anything. Two Bhartis can have exactly the same culture, cuisine, language, and dress type and one will still violently assault the other one if his caste is different. To Bhartis, culture and heritage don't matter, only caste and religion. So any civilization, even if alien, is better than the cruel and hateful Bharti.

cause USA & NATO wants a Naval and AIR and militarry base there and niether Begum Khalidda Zia nor Shiekh Hasina is not acceptting that propossall
Is there any real evidence of this or it is a rumour?
