It's the usual BD election, opposition boycott so...That's real good news. But what are you basing it on? Results out yet? I haven't been paying attention.

In other good news, SHW in BD is gonna win againThat's a W
I don't think you know much about Maldives. Most of their youngsters study in India. There are no colleges or hosptials in Maldives, India helps with everything. The cost of cutting off ties would be immense. WHy would Maldives want to do that? Can be replaced by more more western tourists with far stronger buying power. You really haven't looked into this.
The top 5 markets for Maldives thus far this year are Russia, India, UK, China and Germany. India had consistently remained at the top arrivals spot, especially post-covid. India, having exceeded pre-pandemic arrival numbers in 2021, is currently ranked at the #2 arrivals spot, with 117,131 visitors from India to the Maldives, with Russia on number 1, with 117,198 visitors by 15th July 2023. Additionally, 84,763 travellers from the UK, 77,202, travellers from China and 69,074 travellers from Germany have visited the Maldives this year. The UK and German markets had both exceeded pre-pandemic arrival figures by 2022. This year marks the first time that the China market, one of our traditionally strongest markets, has reached the top 5 since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

So Russians are more numerous and Brits, Chinese etc are just behind. Now with the numerous wealthy Americans coming over you seem to think they're in major trouble due to a boycott from Indians who love Modi.
Aw, scheisse. It's the usual BD election, opposition boycott so...
Like I said, if you think the government is going to go guns blazing on Maldives you will be disappointed. Just wait and we will revisit this thread.Yeah...not having food to eat etc. quickly changes percpeptions dude.
How what works, chief? We tried the soft approach, it didn't work, so bully boy it is.
You can't ask India to be a good big brother and forgive your shenanigans and then turn right back and accuse India of being a bully big brother that's not how it works.
I don't get it.Yeah...not having food to eat etc. quickly changes percpeptions dude.
Like we did with Nepal?Neighbors look after each other and take fellow neighbour's wellbeing into consideration when making a decision.

Tourism increase does not replace milk and vegetables, all of which are imported through Indian aircrafts from Kochi. He was only walking about the very real threat that by next week maldieves will increase tourism from Russia + US + UK + France + china by 25% and screw India out of our ability to dictatorially impose our will upon poor maldievians. And then they will ask India to screw itself. Now do we have an answer for that eventuality? No. Therefore we are now headed for absolute $hit because of our arrogant and delusional attitude.
I don't get it.
Why are we 'compelled' to get angry with them?

Got it.I was not talking about us, I was talking about them. The current president might have won the election on 'India get out' but economics is a real thing.
Got it.
So what?
