I live kinda close to Lakshadweep, you need Inner line permit to get there. Once you land you'll be treated with an empty bunch of islands. There are no modern amenities. If you get really sick you need to travel to Kerala to get any treatment. Going to the Island is a headache literally I got sick one way or the other everytime I went there. Maybe we should hold our horses, the Island is not ready for all the publicity it's getting. Let there be more investments, demand for it. The momentary frenzy will die down.

Since Modi came, things have moved in different gear and India is building things at speed which world is awestruck by. This is not me saying but read some international independent sources.

I worked right through the Gujarat massacres, I was around when the Babri Masjid was demolished, I sat through Arun Jaitley finagling Modi in over Advani and Gadkari, so don't worry, I was not pessimistic because of the Congress, never having been a Congress supporter.

Govt doesn't have to do shit. Taj and ITC are waiting for a signal and they got it this week. Expect waiver of permit regime once these resorts come online.

North Indian cities are dirty and ill planned because they have had huge population for millenia. There was no way the cities could be planned when people were already occupying it. Also, huge population pressure makes it difficult to have waste management system. However, with lakshadweep, population is low and even uninhabited in many places. Everything can be built up in a planned manner.

Obviously, currently lakshadweep has been kept restricted to prevent smuggling and terror activities. But with better security measures as seen with significantly lower terror incidences and government spending, some uninhabited Lakshadweep islands can be developed into a tourist destination. India will have to spend 30-40 thousand crores on it which is not a huge some for the country and its yield will be there economically and politically
