These devices exploded due to malware. This is digital warfare.

They are human. Imagine thousands of hand-held devices in use suddenly exploding, the panic, injuries, deaths. The entire force will be in virtual paralysis and a lot can happen meanwhile in theory.

Someone infiltrated Hezbollah and shared them rigged phones to be used for communication (maybe thinking it's secure). It's such a massive intel op if this is true.

May not even have to rig it - if you know the specifications of a device and certain parameters which can cause this to occur, you can trigger those.

THIS just goes on to show that entire communications were being tapped by the baby killers. This is a serious breach. I doubt there were explosives inside - unless ofcourse Hezbollah bought them directly from the Israelis or a compromised source.
