It was an anti-ship salvo involving a mix of missiles and drones. The entire salvo or strike package was intercepted.

And what we saw was not a swarm tactic. You have to saturate the air defence of every ship in the area of combat with decoys or small drones, followed by heavier projectiles that can cause damage, and 21 drones/missiles on the amount of US navy vessels that were present clearly shows it wasnt a swarm tactic, but a barrage of missiles fired aimlessly.

The barrage was not fired aimlessly but towards select ships. Houthi are using radar systems and drones to detect and track ships they want to target.

It is the largest anti-ship barrage on record. This is the best WE have seen thus far.

Which country can saturate US Navy defenses? Only in theory.

The navy ships are there to intercept all threats to shipping. They are quite capable of doing so indefinitely because Houthi tech is no match for the West's combined military might.

I respect the message that the Houthi are sending, and they may well achieve their goal to disrupt shipping because insurance companies would demand detours anyway, but I don't expect they will actually destroy any cargo ships.

Who says they are trying to destroy cargo ships, insurance premiums 5x and journeys disrupted on a huge scale. Destroying ships and killing random sailors is not necessary or desired

Many missiles landed 200-800m from the ships, did US Navy ships purposefully not intercept those?

Yeah that doesn't make it a swarm tactic and I dont think you know what swarm tactics are, so I'll leave that for you to go learn.
