It depends where they are..if in international flight corridors..it is not legitimate..but if they cross the Iranian skies or help in an attack then they become legitimate war targets..

Average people in Iran don’t even know or care if an attack is coming or maybe not.

There have been so many possibilities of attack on Iran for decades that people adopted.

Last attack no one went to a bunker.

My observation:

Iran is smart:

1. Attacked Israel in April 2024 to test, find out and evaluate Israel's air defense system.

2. Attacked Israel in Oct 2024 to provide strong evidence that Israel's air defense system is weak and can be defeated.

3. The next attack (if it happens) will punish Israel and its allies, sufficiently.

Something similar will happen this time as well. No actual damage, just brownie points for internal consumption to rebuild the image of IDF in front of their populace that never imagined that one day they would see their air defense being humiliated at this scale. Iran did not cause lots of damage either so the military escalation has shifted to political-military maneuvering.

Strategically, it does not benefit US [its choke-hold grip over (P)GCC] if a long-term conflict of Tit-for-Tat game starts between Iran and Israel. American deliberate leakage of Israeli plans is more or less a signal to Israel (than Iran) that no matter what AIPAC does politically, US won't allow a regional firepit war in which petrodollar can be the victim or entire Middle East becomes a nuclearized zone, something they did not even allow EU zone to become at the height of Cold War. This is why we are seeing this delay or paralysis in retaliation, otherwise, countries have backup plans, and Israel and Iran both have "n" numbers of plans to get back at each other. They are involved in a cold war for decades and nobody is stupid.

The tweet posted by @Persian Gulf is misleading.

I'm not making any judgement on whether this warranted a retaliation or not but I do challenge that this information is anything new. Additionally, the originator of the tweet (Fereshteh Sadeghi from PressTV) wasn't thinking clearly when she tweeted IMO.

Highly unlikely. it will be a limited strike from both sides. The Israeli attack will be a targeted attack at military installations just like what Iran did. If the attack is below the threshold of escalation ladder than Iran will ignore it, if it exceeds then Iran will do another limited strike. Iran do not want to escalate. Iran is more comfortable in supporting Hezbullah / houthis without directly participating. That is Iran's most comfortable position through which it can damage Israel without directly being threatened.

Israel isn't that much of a problem, real problem is the United States which has sworn to protect Israel. If there's a significant attack (or punishment) as you call it over Israel then United States will step in. Iran knows this very well and that's why it was always very careful in its attacks. Iran do not want a full scale war and especially not with the US.
