JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

That’s tangential - but you haven’t answered the question.

Block-1s and Abbotabad were semi-coincidental - nothing was sped up in terms of years to months. please provide proof otherwise.

What is the delivery timeframe for Iran you are saying is pronto?
Years months what?

Absorbing the squadron - training - all of that is fine - but the question was factory time.
a squadron of aircraft ready to he handed over in 12 to 18 months specifically block 3

So on one hand you mocked that Pakistan cannot provide anything to Iran on time - then you shot a tangent that it’s actually Iran that cannot absorb on time regardless of who is supplying them - then you’re stating a squadron of aircraft being delivered within a year and a half time span which is decently respectable - at this point could you please make up your mind as to your objection to this already hyperbolic news of Iran being here for JF-17s?

Officially 20-25 units I’m not sure what it would be for block 3
The size of Iran’s order is between 50+ units they want the aircraft pronto PAC can’t facilitate that demand without the actual assembly line increasing and that would take years

IS… is there indeed any substance to this rumour or isn’t it just a just a rumour?

EMP would do the job just fine…
…as in an electromagnetic pulse(EMP) can knock out any electronic device which isn’t well shielded.
This type of weapon wouldn’t need to “hit”(whether kinetically or with an explosive warhead) the satellite at all.

However a smaller missile? Idk if that’s possible. I would assume it would have to be at least the size of a cruise missile(probably on the larger side). Last I ever remember reading on one of these things…was a US weapon called CHAMP.
A bucket of nails would be just as effective =)

Why on Earth would Pakistan in its right mind sell JF-17 Thunders to Iran just a few months after Iran carried out unprovoked rocket and missiles strikes on Pakistan?

The mere suggestion of such a sale is just stupid.

Iran can approach India for the LCA Flying Rickshaws to defend the Chahbahar Port if needs be. Let's leave it at that.

Some people think that GHQ (which I must admit is not the brightest of the lot), actually listen to keyboard warriors, and armchair generals, on online forums.

It’s:
Andreas is visiting New York to meet with the USAF Chief - ipso facto he wants to buy F-35s - cannot be anything else

What does the PAF have to do with it then?
It should be a direct transaction with CATIC
That is my assessment also Iran can easily get everything from China easily without getting Islamabad involved
Most of the JF17 brouhaha in my view are fanboys gone wild, Many Iranian observers including those on this forum have pointed out many problems with the Iranian JF17 such as Iran's doctrine being based on double engine assets (thus negating the J10 as well) as well as geopolitical complications i.e. how is the Gulf going to react to Iranian JF17s buzzing about the Hormuz straits

Due to sanctions and/or inter-service rivalry with the IRGC, I don't think the IRIAF had many decent fighter options to leverage, be it twin-engine or single-engine.

Their doctrine is one of necessity, which is to use what they already have, most of which are legacy twin-engine jets. However, it's worth remembering that the IIAF did plan on buying 160+ F-16s.

IMO, if the IRIAF could get the J-10CE, they would do so. The fact that they're not is likely due to a combo of US sanctions (even China has its limits) and the focus on equipping the IRGC with the capacity to carry out cross-border strikes (which, in the old days, the IRIAF would've carried out).
