World's longest high speed railway, 1,776 Kilometers Xinjiang HSR bullet train running through the harsh terrain, breathtaking!

Read again. I'm talking about your screenshot of air fare 900-1100 yuan.

Normally it will be around 40$ in India. Matching the most of train categories except of second class.
" Your trains are not cheap but flight fare is expensive."

I m talking about your this comment, trains are relatively much much cheaper than flight or driving in China.

Yes but you showed reference of 140$ airfare, which looked pretty expensive infront of 20-30$. So there is wow factor in China.

But in reality other countries have same flights priced at 40$ , making the price factor a little less relevant.

can you post time table of train. Would be great if contains distance / halts etc.

Air ticket fare fluctuates massively depending on when you take the flight and other factors, train fare in China is fixed, doesn't change.

The Fuxing power-concentrated (electric multiple unit) EMU passenger train will be launched between Korla City and Hami City in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on November 29, with tickets available online starting November 22. It will be the first Fuxing service connecting southern and eastern Xinjiang, according to China Media Group (CMG).

The Fuxing CR200J EMU covers a one-way distance of 729 kilometers, accommodating up to 720 passengers per train, and completing the one-way journey in approximately six hours.

Currently, two pairs of regular passenger trains run daily between Korla and Hami. The launch of the Fuxing EMU will cut travel time by up to 57 minutes from Korla to Hami and up to 1 hour and 26 minutes in the opposite direction, according to CMG.

"The Fuxing CR200 series, with a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour, introduces advanced technology to upgrade traditional intercity railways. The enhanced speed will significantly improve passenger flow and boost tourism connectivity between the two regions, " Sun Zhang, a railway expert at Shanghai Tongji University, told the Global Times on Sunday.

Sun noted that the railway between Korla and Hami passes through several renowned tourist attractions, allowing for better utilization of the region's tourism resources and promoting the economic development of Xinjiang.

In addition to passenger services, the Fuxing bullet train between the two regions can also transport goods. Korla, located on the 2,712-kilometer southern Xinjiang desert loop railway that began operation in 2022, can be connected to the China-Europe freight train network via the newly launched Fuxing EMU service, according to Sun.

"This link boosts goods transport from southern Xinjiang and strengthens trade with neighboring countries via the China-Europe freight corridor," Sun said.

Any plan for an extension of the HSR into Kazakhstan? The line could double as a new mainline for fast freight cargo onwards to Europe.

They could do very well to upgrade their rail network, especially if they hope to capitalize on the middle corridor plan.

63 hours currently to cross most of Kazakhstan, even longer I assume to cross from China all the way to the Caspian Sea.

Uzbekistan all ready has high speed rail, so a HSR link between China and Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan could be very beneficial to both for trade and tourism.

The Kazakh leadership has shown interest in HSR for years.

If cargo by rail can move fast enough, at a cheap enough price, it could be competitive for certain products like food. Especially goods currently transported only by air. A reliable rail link across Afghanistan could make investment in the Pakistani agricultural sector viable for export to China and via a versa, and for all countries in between.

Huge potential if the Kazakh’s build HSR, and link with the Xinjiang HSR.

HSR makes sense for flights distance for less than 3hrs. For flight distance of 3 hrs or more, flying still makes more sense. That why I don’t think it makes much economic sense to have HSR to Xinjiang or Tibet as the distance is further and ridership is less. Not viable for travel or investment in the infrastructure. But HSR for the rest of China makes sense.

As for extending the infrastructure outside of China, it makes sense to South East Asia but not to Central Asia or Russia. The distance vs ridership doesn’t work out.
