Bangladesh Air Force

Brother, with the new administration, what platform, and in what quantity do you see it coming?

Difficult to say yet bro. The current admin will not buy anything for sure, since they will focus on stabilizing the country and hosting the election.

Depending on who wins the Election - either BNP or Jamaat or a new party formed by students which is touted to be pro-West - will influence which platform BAF goes for.

At the very least for sure it won't be Russian again.

Well, current administration is focused with post revolution stabilization of the state, removal of ex dictatorship loyalists from important administration posts and administrative reform. Im not sure current government will focus on any brand new developments.

The Turkish systems are more geared toward asymmetric engagements. Some projected systems: the Steel Dome with long range radars, EW, ultra-secured comms links, and layered AD can keep the entire Bharati air assets at the bay. Couple it with short-legged TB3 and naval version of KIZILELMA and ANKA-3, so that highways can be used as tarmacs. Long range rockets and UAVs armed with myriad of SOMs will find tons of Bharati assets within their ranges. If BD has ~4K km of border with Bharat then so has Bharat with BD....

Pakistan has some of the best pilots on earth. Their exploits are the stuff of legend. Most importantly, they have experience against the IAF. We can learn valuable insights from them along with learning about their strengths and weaknesses.
Speaking in terms of past, some of the legendary PAF pilots came from East Pakistan. I believe BAF pilots have the same mentality but not the capability to match their intellect.

so the information about Bangladesh pilots possibly to go and train in Pakistan on air combat tactics has some truth to it... nice find brother!

How did you deduce Pakistan from that?

Because it’s been announced that Air Force would collab with sister air forces for combat tactics training and then proceeded to cancel their training with India.

Hmm ... In that case, I guess, the logic would point to Pakistan.

fun fact i learnt today.... back in 2010, there was only 21 mig 29 pilots in Bangladesh... at least one of them died in a suspicious plane crash after pilkhana massacre... dude had dirt on the government.

Explains why we have been buying only trainers for the past 15 years

Maybe, just maybe things will start to move forward. Even if it is slowly. I think IG has realize the vulnerability of BD's force posture. Looks like narional security stablishment (given now they are acting freely and not beholden) is more concern with Myanmar in short to medium term. They want to gain qualitative edge in case military posturing becomes neccessary when the fighting settles in Myanmar.

KF21 should be our choice. It has certain degree of LO characteristics. Giving it an advantage over other 4.5 gen fighters. Also, it is cost effective compared to twin engine Eurocanards.

Last but not the least, air force still pursuing attack helicopters is a trash idea. Shows continuous lack of integration between army and BAF. (Which pain me the most.) Also, MRSAM? I hope it's only for base defense. We need long range high altitude BMB capable system. This is a must.

We need multi-layered AD - so MRSAM is needed. Once they get that, then we have to push for LRSAMs and ABM systems.
