The combat capability of the first generation KF21 is not on the same level as that of the J35. According to the development prospects, South Korea will at least move on to the next stage, which is to develop a stealth missile compartment version of the KF21, making it a true fifth generation aircraft. India has such waiting time, why not ask the United States to sell F35, or develop AMCA themselves, or join the Rafale F5 program

If they really want f-35 they can get it in a heartbeat but it will come with conditions like moving away from Russian assets that includes s-400 and such and go completely with american made weapon systems basically become a lapdog and do whatever for the Empire.

If WS 19 engine is in small batch production, then Pakistan can wait until 2026. Pakistani pilots to be fully ready on J-35 will take 6 to 8 months of training by then Pakistan can have few J-35 with WS19 engine which we can take to limits and test it like hell.

If KF-21 has US engine then it's not happening for India. But if it has Korean Engine then yes that is what PAF would be facing.

I'm sure they will go with indigenous engine eventually. Koreans are smart I have more faith in them to get shit done than the Indians.

Ofc they don't want to give secret away to the Indians but that doesn't mean they can't sell it to them. India doesn't have much of a choice. Do they want to stay further behind or buy something off the shelves? Easy choice to make.they can't be complaining cause they have no leverage in the deal whatsoever unless they want to go full Rafale and wait longer for deliveries.

I think the hurdles is made in India policy. Unlikely they will buy KF21 for just complete buyer.

While Korea is aggressively promoting the plane to countries that dont have mature aerospace industry like Thailand, Philippine, Malaysia, Peru....

I personally don't want them to buy kf-21 anyway. I'd rather they go all the way with tejas mk1a so they dont become a threat to anyone except themselves. I don't trust made in India planes. U see how it goes with them made in India MIGS. A few squadrons of kf-21 can pose a threat to Pakistan. I prefer them to stay behind longer until amca enters service which won't happen for 2 more decades.

Acquisition of fighter aircraft from the USA makes you lose your sovereignty---.

I have a feeling India would get the better end of any negotiation deal, or it would get no deal at all.

No such thing as better negotiation. India only get what it wants because uncle Sam fears China next door. They waste so much money on mq-9 reaper drones. India is not smart when it comes to foreign purchases. They don't even trust their own indigenous programs

Amca is a joke. Do you really believe they can come up with a working prototype? 30 more Rafale can't cut it. 2035 timeline for amca I'm telling you it will not be ready until 2045.

You know India mentality ? They want to be superpower. They want to build every thing. They will likely keep pursuing AMCA

We can see they have ordered many Tejas despite the design is obsolete for future war, it is for the sake of growing their own local industries

Exactly which makes f-35 deal impossible it will certainly kill AMCA program. I already told you tejas alone is not enough they can purchase more kf-21 as a stop gap until AMCA enters service. They have time to figure shit out. Also if the Koreans can offer at a good price they will take the deal. Rafale is too expensive cause of too much backlog.

I agree, KF-21 is probably the best fighter India can get in a reasonable time frame before 2035, but they will probably demand unrealistic ToTs that South Korea/US would be hesitant to agree to.
