International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS)

yes, Turbojet i guess, TJ-83
It was already shown long time back. 190-220km. Same product, different name:

The triservices and, in turn, NESCOM took SOW development really seriously these past few years: Taimur ALCM, Harbah ASCM, Fatah-series SSM, SMASH-series (?) SSM, and now AZB-ER (with turbojet?).

IMO, there's a deliberate strategic focus on getting munitions under control. So, the funding and urgency is there, and with GIDS also openly promoting the FAAZ-series, I think the AAM and SAM programs will materialize relatively soon.

I just hope we see ramjet and scramjet programs enter the pipeline soon, i.e., supersonic-cruising AShMs and hypersonic-cruising AShMs.

Azb 1-6 are unpowered. That seems unpowered as well. No booster. Pretty sure it says Extension Kit with Seeker.

The actual boosted REK is called as BREK as per PAF, it was most recently showcased when Azeri president announced induction of Jefs.

We had Dragoon that was not inducted except for few and now VN22.
Yeah. Wasting resources is their motto. Buying designs from China and tagging their name on those having no shame. Recent examples being VN and VT4. Why would anyone buy from HIT when they can buy from China faster and safer.

REK/BREK seems to be PAF nomenclature. For marketing the same product(s) have been referred to as Takbir(early days), REK and then since last IDEAS as Azb.

Pretty sure the 190-220Km Azb (FT12 derivative) is boosted as it’s simply physically not possible to have that range on unpowered glide. Whether this particular display is boosted or not is another thing. Seekers are optional as we can see in the table below:

All the talk about Azb reminded me of Rasoob from the old MODP report. Do we finally have any idea what it was?

That’s why in the other thread, I said it would be nice to localize CM302/YJ12E to absorb ramjet know-how and then build on it like india did with Brahmos.
Grant me a little thread tangent on ram/scramjet development.
1. Physics too poorly understood for reliable computational simulations
2. Therefore, experiments only way: Flight tests or windtunnels.
2a. Flight tests are stupid expensive - launch a rocket everytime you want to do a test - get 30 seconds of data.
2b. Windtunnels are VERY specialized and expensive to develop. Working gas is too dissimilar, or test section too small. Most reliable way is rails+rocket or somekind of cannon. US DoD is funding such a startup for this very reason.
3. Little to no published info on these things - all data gathered is guarded closely since it is so expensive to get and so strategically important.

So to expect our poor old SPD orgs to do this kind of development is not realistic. Just my two cents.
