We will make significant structural changes to the second prototype of the National Combat Aircraft. I heard a comment saying "It's almost a different aircraft" but it's not certain. Photo: Representative

This is true. There are many changes. The ducts will be different - although this is next to impossible to see from the outside. The control surfaces will be different kind of like this in red:

I suspect the LEF will be different too.
These are only the things I know - what else will be different who knows. We have to keep in mind the first prototype is a design that was frozen many years ago and the current Ka'an is very different from this.

I wonder if they will attempt DSI or if that is too much of a radical design change and too difficult currently with the limited testing facilities and wind tunnel refining required.. Only the US and China have gone down that route so far in practice, although France and the UK do show DSI in their proposed fighter models.

There were studies done. It was decided against. I think the speed and acceleration requirements together with the the possible uncertainty of the engine means that a conventional splitter was selected. I am only guessing here.

Hurjet 2 got painted fighter colors.

The nose job has worked a treat on Hurjet 2 - looks really much better now!

I am sure there are practical reason for it - but still, looks wise, good move.

yes it would be slower for speed of development. the conventional splitter is simpler to implement.

Yeah I think he is referencing the spain sale possibly. Thought to be fair its not a sale, more of a bartering exchange. which I think is great, probably better. Both sides get good prices and value out of it.

Spanish defense analyst Juanjo Fernández drew attention to the second prototype of the HURJET and wrote, "Start getting used to this plane. I won't say more for now."

Spain interested in HURJET

So then why was P0, the first prototype KAAN rushed into first flight? Just managing 1 more flight in the entire year.
