Assad isn't helping with shit, he was the one that allegedly gave up the Iranian locations that the Israelis used to strike. I'm not sure what is going on in the North, but I don't think its going to be much of a factor.

Turkey is not toppling assad, the northern offensive are to expand the buffer zone and allow syrians to go back home and clear out the PKK from the areas in the North.

Assad should withdraw south of the buffer zone, and let Turkey get rid of the PKK. Its in Syrian interests to have the PKK gone as well, as they seek to balkanize Syria.
 
The deeper the Rebels push towards Aleppo from the west, the hold of the PKK in the Tel Rifat pocket will get without Assad's backing.

They tried to push the innocent civilians out of Idlib and into Turkey creating a new wave of refugees. Didn't work.

SNA and allies are full of terrorists and extremists. Syrian ally hizbollah is fighting Israel and Iran has eyes on Israel so Turkey and allies find the best opportunity to take more of Syrian territory. Shame. If they're such big mujahdeens, they should help Gaza and WestBank.

It's like 2013-2016 all over again. I thought that war stopped and there was only sporadic firefights and some ambushes here and there.

But who guarantees the Syrian government that Turkish forces will retreat and not give this buffer zone to their TFSA friends? Anyway,the Syrian Army has been so extremely weakened after all these years of war. It was in a bad state to fight a guerilla war in the first place.

You're partly right. Never underestimate the ability of Turks to learn from their past mistakes and return even stronger. That's basically our history.

This operation itself was prepared meticulously and it shows. The forces on the ground act smoothly and advance very professionally. This time Russia, Iran and Assad are facing a military force rather than a bunch of village idiots with AK47s.
