You guys are getting flack from them and Lebanese people, oddly enough I think people of Gaza are more appreciative of your strikes on Israel and they see Lebanon/Syria as having been the weak points. Especially Hezbollah which had much tools provided by Iran but was not effective. I don't know why people of region had impression that Iran was supposed to do the heavy lifting for everything. It was probably because Hezbollah appeared much weaker than they had imagined. And people thought because of TP2 that Iran has a massive capability to wage war even though that may not be entirely accurate....

I'm not mad at Iran. Now Hamas was under serious domestic pressure since the blockade of Gaza and Hamas higher ups were fed up with the situation. They didn't have hope in any kind of Arab Spring and they didn't want to get into limited skirmishes anymore, they wanted to blow up the situation in hopes of coercing the region into a confrontation with Israel. Hamas was actually fed up and willing to sacrifice a lot for that. They don't care about being in power. They're looking at long term strategic change that they may not be around to see. And for them their role in it is to be the fire that lightens up the candle ....

Israel is attacking the Quneitra region. The Russians are also on the Mediterranean coast and are unlikely to leave easily. The Kurds are also seeking independence with the support of the United States.
Turks also want north of Syria for themselves

Iran's just announced that Assad is no longer Syrian president and that the SAA has been told to stand down.

This is a joke bro.......nobody even bothered fighting, just like in Kabul. Nobody even died!

Homajon was right in his comment from yesterday.

Wtf did Assad do or not do? to piss off Iran and Russia?

Or was Iran threatened with a tactical nuke attack by the US?

There are rumors that Assad told Iran to leave Syria. He probably did this because of fear or promises from Arab and Western countries. It has been a few days since the Iranians left Syria.

He didn’t change. After he won the war he kept the status quo. No reforms, no power sharing. Assad also had a terrible economy, 90% of people lived in poverty. Mostly due to sanctions and partly due to corruption.

Iran gave Syria billions in credit lines and free oil to keep it functioning. But at that end of the day, Iran couldn’t prop up all of Syria. Iran is not Russia/China/US, iran didn’t build a strong economy and for war you need a strong economy.

Lastly, Assad was sold by his own men. His intelligence apparatus and his Generals sold him up the river. Hezbollah, Iraqi PMU, etc all arrived in Homs as did elements of Tiger forces and SAA/NDF loyal to him. But they were told to stand down and so Iran saw the writing on the wall, it was over. If SAA Generals won’t fight and have signed a deal with America/Turkey then there is nothing more to be done.

Of course Zarif/Argachi were more than happy to leave Syria since they always thought it was a bad idea to go in.

Gaza and Hamas were punching above their weight and imo were essential for the essence of the AoR. I would always say Hamas was the spearhead of military action against Israel, and not Hezbollah. For various reasons. People would disagree and state that Hamas is a small part of the picture reduced to a limited role. But this recent conflict in Gaza showed otherwise. Ofc people really did believe Hezbollah was a offensive powerhouse of some sort that Israel was afraid of clashing with. And that they could deal serious damage to Israel and deter them from making drastic moves in Gaza. I was in agreement with you about Nasrallah I didn't think he utilized his military tools well. And I didn't like the direction he was taking the movement. Despite being a great populist leader for the AoR.

But the point is once it became apparent Gaza was being subjected to a total and systematic attack, and that Hamas would be severely crippled, it became clear that the AoR's core identity and ability to materialize in practice would be tested. And it just wasn't able to materialize on the ground because it really came down to Hezbollah and Hamas. Iraqis and Houthi's never traditionally played that role. Those were last minute makings. And US threatening Hezbollah and Lebanon made it a task above their means.

Now people will ask what then what was Hamas thinking. That's a whole other discussion. But reason Hamas kept it secret was for it to succeed. Israeli military and intelligence are very active in and around Gaza. More than anywhere else pre-October 7. And the project was years in the making and couldn't afford to be compromised. Hamas was instead was trying to publicly signal to allies of a big event over Jerusalem and a need for unified fronts to be applied in practice. Nobody really took it seriously because it just wasn't anticipated and nobody thought Hamas could pull off a attack of such scope. Or wanted to.
