Well not for Assad. He ran away with a $2 billion dollar fortune and is ensconced in a luxury penthouse in Moscow. His children are attending school in China and his family will probably be happier now living in luxury without the responsibilities of statecraft. Although he will have to constantly watch his back for the rest of his life. You also never know if your invitation will wear out and if Putin will hand you over one day. He was a useless ally after all.

What has #russia lost with the fall of the Assad regime in #Syria?Russia's defeat in Syria and the fall of the Assad regime is not just a blow to Putin's reputation. It is more complex. So let's go through the points that Russia has lost along with Assad.

Loss of role in the Middle East. Russia has largely lost its status as a major player, as Syria was its most important ally in the region.
Without the Assad regime, it will be difficult for Russia to influence important countries in the region (Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Israel).
Russia has also lost its role as a counterweight to the US in the region, which strengthens the position of Washington and its allies (Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates).

It is simple about Turkey:
1. Recognised the Zionist entity in 1949. Does not even share a border and so this was not under duress like Egypt that lost the economically important Sinai peninsula that it needed back.
2. Member of Nato even in 2024 - an anti-Muslim and anti "Global South" alliance at its core.
3. Still supplying oil to the entity to help it to commit genocide against Gazans.
What is so hard from looking at these facts and then working out what Turkey really is and who it works for?
