Turkey is the only NATO country that has openly called Hamas a freedom fighter organization, has hosted Hamas leadership (and is also a good ally of Qatar who has them as well), has offered to take over negotiations with the yahudis for them. Iran has failed Hamas, Hezbollah, Assad but Turkey has succeeded in achieving it's goals in the region.

It's right for Iran to take a backseat in the region and let someone who has played the game better than them take over. I doubt Iran will have a choice they've been in the crosshairs of US + Israel for a long time.
