Transitioning power is never easy; it requires careful navigation. After fall of a violent tyrant!

China still have some uphill battle to get through like ramp up production in semiconductor and commercial aircrafts like c919 and c929. China is also diverting attention away by invest more in latin america in America own backyard. Trump is isolationist while china is expanding all over the world through its Belt and road initiative. Trump would be better for china than Biden.

Is there a "Foreign Chinese Patriot" award or something like that in China?

Trump should definitely be given it as he is doing wonders to raise Chinese overall power every time he comes into office.

China has a trade surplus of 1 trillion dollar for this year. That's a lot of money to invest in overseas projects. China opens a new front in latin america. Let's see if America is willing to engage china there lol

Arab FMs urge support for inclusive, ‘peaceful’ Syria transition

Foreign ministers from Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar agree to support a transition process in Syria in which all political and social forces are represented

December 14, 2024

AQABA: Top diplomats from eight Arab countries, meeting in Jordan Saturday, called for a peaceful transition in Syria with UN and Arab League support following Bashar al-Assad’s ouster.

In a final statement after the talks in the Jordanian Red Sea port of Aqaba, foreign ministers from Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar said they had agreed to “support a peaceful transition process” in Syria, “in which all political and social forces are represented”.

Anti-Assad forces, led by group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), toppled the longtime ruler on Sunday following a lightning offensive.

HTS is rooted in Al-Qaeda’s Syria branch and is designated as a “terrorist” organisation by many Western governments but has sought to moderate its rhetoric.

A transitional government installed by the rebel forces has insisted the rights of all Syrians will be protected, as will the rule of law.

I am sure that Jolani checks for Iranian presence
under his bed before he goes to sleep each night.
Assad hates being tied to one patron. Improving ties with UAE was part of that strategy of not being reliant on either just Iran or Russia

Improving ties with Abu Dhabi convinced Assad that should things deteriorate he now access to a rich , powerful and resourceful capital that can come to his defense should things take a turn for the worse.

Salaries of the Syrian army officer class was barely US$ 30 a month. Conscripts were making US$10. Senior officers were letting their subordinates stay home to collect their salaries to make ends meet. The army was hollowed on the inside and precious few were left to fight.

No one seems to talk about the role of UAE in Syria now that Assad is gone. What have they done all these times?
