A Look Inside Huawei’s Phone Shows How China’s Chip Advance Has Stalled

The chinos keep ignoring that huawua gets CCP subsidies and would not exist on its own.
No one gets more subsidies than Intel itself. US car companies can't compete so they lobbied us government to put tariffs on Chinese EVs haha bunch of losers.

if you are going to make accusations like Huawei getting more subsidies than others, at least show your math like how much subsidies they got in total & how many phones they sold -> subsidies before phones or cars. 🤡

China can make the indigenous DUV, it can 100% make 7nm and max out its capabilities.

By next year, China will possess its indigenous EUV, and it can access into the fabrication domain of 5-3nm or even more.

When the United States imposed sanctions on Huawei in 2019, Huawei led the world only in 4G/5G and mobile phone business, but Huawei's phones used Qualcomm's chips, Android operating system and many American components, and Huawei's 4G/5G devices also have many components from Western companies.

In 2024, Huawei's 4G/5G business still leads the world, and Huawei's mobile phones return to the top in the Chinese market, with its own HarmonyOS and 7nm 5G chip, Huawei helped China break through chip sanctions and promoted the development of many domestic component manufacturers. Huawei's AI driving system is one of the best in the world, and Huawei's GPU card. Huawei has developed domestic alternatives to EDA or other 78 western software......

I have no doubt that Huawei cannot achieve these achievements in 5 years without US sanctions. Thank you

This is a HUGE move. China wouldn’t do this if they didnt already have replacements of comparable or superior chips available already.

China has nothing that compares with NVIDIA AI hardware. China can’t even produce AI chips comparable to the Hopper series much less Blackwell.

China can’t even meet 7nm AI chip demand. It barely does so for Huawei smartphones, and SMICs 7nm is shit.

All China has is an EUV patent

China makes 70x as many solar panels as the US does!
Biden is pumping a lot of tax credit and subsidies… all the while complaining about China’s subsidies! 🤣 🤣 🤣 and still losing

It takes time to scale up production. Success doesn't happen overnight

The US already lost EVs, commercial drones , and solar panels race to China. US shipbuilding is almost nonexist while china continues to gain market share loool soon they will have overcapacity chips cause China will not longer needs them then they will cry about Chinese overcapacity in semiconductor chips. Remember Chinese car export rose from 1 million to 5 million in a matter of years. Be patient!

The Ascend series has a 20% yield rate and uses 7nm process technology. That A100 tech, which is 4-5 years old, an eternity in AI hardware.

NVIDIA Blackwell is in full production today, with them moving to 3nm Rubin architecture in a year.

There’s a reason NVIDIA is a $3T+ company, because it’s the clear leader in AI hardware.

Nvidia is a Chinese company run by Jensen Huang. Good for him. He makes every Chinese around the world proud. I have nothing but respect for him. I love CZ as well I'm a big crypto guy. Every Chinese success story should be celebrated regardless of where they are from.

The US has screwed up big historically when it comes to China. They have turned China into a competitor by the constant sanctions. China is becoming more and more self reliant, eventually they will consume their own microchips and not have to spend $200b+ every year they do buying from overseas. This of course will take time, as it took them to modernise their military and other areas.

Misleading as that figure most probably refers to the amount of chips that are 100% fine.

It is natural to have the majority of the chips in a die be defective and so some cores are disabled and sold as a cut down version.

This is what happens with US vendors like Nvidia where only a minority of chips are the "full" version and so most GPUs have to sold as a lower end chip with cores disabled due to defects. As an example RTX 4080S is the "full version" whereas the RTX 4070 Ti Super is the "binned" version with defects in the chip and so some of the cores are disabled and sold at lower cost.

You’re an idiot if you think China will do something like this if it leaves them completely vulnerable. China most likely has plans to mass produce competitive or even superior chips it has already secretly developed if it is making such openly hostile moves against Nvidia.
