Chinese 6th Generation Aircraft News & Discussions

I see FB-22 vibes here - which is fine because super maneuverable requirements are less prevalent than penetration.

The pace of development comes from a digital first approach which started with JF-17.
Yes, it gives me that same vibe, more optimized for strike roles or long range missile truck, to support the J-20 with larger and heavier munitions. An answer to the B-21.

Does the missile bay look long enough to carry the PL-17? If the Aim-260 is said to have a range of approx. 380-400 km. China is gonna need a similar missile, and I suspect the Aim-260 will be carried by the B-21, so why not the PL-17 to be carried by this “JH-26/J-30” aircraft?

It’s amazing how digital first is speeding up development.

Can’t wait to see the Indian vlogs today, and how they stomach this development, considering China could crank out a lot of these planes in a few years time, if it chose to do so, and deploy them on the Indian border.

Btw, it won’t be long (a couple of years) before IR stealth panels could be tested on this design, similar to what was put on the F-22. Without a tail the RCS will probably be very competitive with US bomber designs as well.

I am guessing eventually the 6th gen design will be made to go hypersonic, will be interesting to see how its engine evolves to that point.

The design would undoubtedly have to change to meet those needs.

Is it the reflection of the sunlight or does it look like engine exhaust is being vented from the moving trailing surface?

Apparently, there was a video and photo of J-XD2 in flight just this Sunday, with a j-11 flying alongside in Shenyang.

shenyang flew today as well, quote

"
Shenhua hinted that Shenyang 6gen also completed its first flight:eek:
Ayi didn't know if it was a joke, but reposted that Xi'an had also done it. "

Today is the birth anniversary of Mao Zedong, the great leader of PRC.
Mao Zedong: December 26, 1893 - September 9, 1976
This new airplane is the best gift to honor him.

Not until 2030S, there is still a long way to go before we fully master the whole package, plus I don't think the 6th gen has anything to do with Indian, their airforce is stuck.
