THINK TANK: CONSULTANT
Yes, it gives me that same vibe, more optimized for strike roles or long range missile truck, to support the J-20 with larger and heavier munitions. An answer to the B-21.I see FB-22 vibes here - which is fine because super maneuverable requirements are less prevalent than penetration.
The pace of development comes from a digital first approach which started with JF-17.
Does the missile bay look long enough to carry the PL-17? If the Aim-260 is said to have a range of approx. 380-400 km. China is gonna need a similar missile, and I suspect the Aim-260 will be carried by the B-21, so why not the PL-17 to be carried by this “JH-26/J-30” aircraft?
It’s amazing how digital first is speeding up development.
Can’t wait to see the Indian vlogs today, and how they stomach this development, considering China could crank out a lot of these planes in a few years time, if it chose to do so, and deploy them on the Indian border.
Btw, it won’t be long (a couple of years) before IR stealth panels could be tested on this design, similar to what was put on the F-22. Without a tail the RCS will probably be very competitive with US bomber designs as well.
F-22 Spotted With New Stealth Wing Tanks, Infrared Sensor Pods
Stealthy fuel tanks and pods containing infrared search and track sensors will help bridge the gap between the F-22 and what's to succeed it.
